A return to wet ground could bring about improvement from Gold Decree, who is best forgiven for his latest Bendigo effort.
The Farnan gelding finished tailed off after being eased in the straight over 1600m at Bendigo last start, having previously finished runner-up over 1400m at Wagga.
Competing on a Heavy track that day, the selection found only a subsequent winner too strong after settling towards the rear of midfield.
Beaten just under two lengths at Wagga, the three-year-old has also performed with credit over shorter distances, while any further rain would only enhance his chances.
Brittany Button's claim and an inside barrier are both positives and, while he meets several lightly raced rivals, he may prove capable of recording an upset victory.

Improvement at her second race start suggested Only Opera is ready to take another step forward over this longer trip.
The filly showed ability when finishing sixth on debut at Kyneton in February before being spelled and completing two Ballarat jump-outs ahead of her return at Geelong earlier this month.
Competing over 1443m, the three-year-old produced a much-improved effort when less than four lengths from the winner on a Heavy 8 surface in a race that has since produced a Warrnambool winner.
Her closing effort indicated the rise in distance will suit, while an inside draw is another positive.
Neil Farley's mount remains open to further improvement and rates value to break her maiden at the third attempt.

Both of her previous victories have come on Soft ground, including a dominant four-length success at Ararat three starts back after overcoming a wide barrier.
The mare backed that effort up with a solid third over 1425m at Seymour in Benchmark 62 company after settling just behind the speed.
Shane Jackson's representative gets in with a favourable racing weight and, making her first appearance at Swan Hill, is selected to record her second victory of the year.
