Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

A blockbuster Wimbledon semi-final showdown awaits on Friday as World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and seven-time champion Novak Djokovic collide.

Sinner has transformed into the world's best player over the last couple of years and will be chasing his maiden Wimbledon final, while Djokovic holds a record 102-12 record at the All England Club and is continuing his pursuit of an eighth Wimbledon crown and 25th Grand Slam title. Both players are carrying niggling injuries into this encounter, but rest assured knowing they will absolutely leave nothing in the tank for a shot at Wimbledon glory.

I can see a potential classic playing out here. Sinner has won the last four meetings between the pair and I do believe he still has the edge. However, grass is a great neutraliser for Djokovic, especially after he was swatted away in straight sets in the French Open semi-finals. Wimbledon remains Djokovic's best chance for more Grand Slam silverware and I think he'll rise to the occasion. In saying that, will it be enough? Unlikely. Sinner is simply the better player at this stage of their respective careers and he's proved that time and time again. His flat power and unrelenting depth of shot is something Djokovic hasn't found the solutions for in their recent encounters - and although grass will help, I don't think the Serbian can fully turn the tables. Backing Sinner to come out on top in five, possibly setting up another major final with his main rival Carlos Alcaraz...

Head To Head

Sinner has taken the lead in this H2H, winning the last four encounters to make it 5-4 in his favour. The Italian has prevailed in straight sets in the last two, including a 7-6 6-3 triumph in last year's Shanghai Masters final before a 6-4 7-5 7-6 victory in this year's French Open semis.

Jannik Sinner Form

Sinner comes into this contest with a 24-3 record on the season, remaining No. 1 in the world despite missing three months earlier in the year due to suspension.

It hasn't been an ideal comeback for Sinner - he was beaten in both the Rome and Roland Garros finals by Alcaraz, while he suffered a shock defeat to Alexander Bublik in the second round of Halle in his only Wimbledon warm-up event.

Handed a very comfortable opening week draw, Sinner breezed into the R16 with straight sets wins over Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic and Pedro Martinez.

However, Sinner found himself in all sorts of trouble against Grigor Dimitrov, trailing by two sets before the Bulgarian was forced to retire at 2-2 in the third with a pectoral injury. It was a great escape for Sinner, who was also dealing with an elbow injury that clearly affected the speed of his shot.

There was some doubt over Sinner's fitness heading into the quarter-finals, but the top seed put those questions to bed with a clinical performance, defeating Ben Shelton in straight sets, 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4.

Novak Djokovic Form

Djokovic has registered a 26-8 record on the season, raising his level over the last couple of months and restoring some confidence/aura in his game.

Overall, it's been a very solid season for the 38-year-old - he's made the Australian Open semi-finals (forced to retire) and the Miami Masters final, along with capturing that elusive 100th career title in Geneva.

The 24-time major champion beat Alexander Zverev to reach the Roland Garros semi-finals, but ultimately Sinner was too good on the clay. Now, Djokovic gets a shot at redemption on his preferred grass.

Djokovic has dropped a set in three of his five matches at Wimbledon, needing four to move past Alexandre Muller in the opening round, Alex de Minaur in the R16 and Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-finals. In between, Djokovic crushed Dan Evans and Miomir Kecmanovic in straights.

The Serbian took a 'nasty' tumble towards the end of his 6-7(6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 quarter-final triumph over Cobolli and subsequently cancelled his on-site practice yesterday as he managed the injury.

Verdict

Djokovic is the GOAT, but this version of Sinner is a puzzle he's yet to solve, losing the last four meetings.

Grass is a great neutraliser, but I don't think it will be enough. Backing Sinner to advance, possibly in a five-set thriller.
