Djokovic has been playing some of his best tennis of the year over the last two rounds, swatting aside Dan Evans and Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets - and the Serbian sensation will be confident of registering another dominant victory here. Djokovic hasn't lost a completed R16 match at a Grand Slam since 2018 and you have to go all the way back to 2006 for the last time he lost at this stage at Wimbledon. Furthermore, only Carlos Alcaraz has beaten Djokovic at Wimbledon since 2017 - can de Minaur add his name to that list?
It's highly unlikely. These two were actually scheduled to clash in the Wimbledon quarter-finals last year, but de Minaur was forced to withdraw with a hip injury sustained on the match point of his R16 victory. Twelve months on and the Aussie gets another crack, but unfortunately he's not playing at the same high level he was then - and this version of Djokovic is much better. There's also a tiny bit of bad blood here, with Djokovic not liking de Minaur speaking out against his behaviour during the pandemic a few years ago. Djokovic will fired up for this one and I can see producing a ruthless performance here.
Head To Head
Djokovic leads 2-1, dominating their only previous slam encounter 6-2 6-1 6-2 in the R16 of the 2023 Australian Open before de Minaur prevailed 6-4 6-4 the following year at the United Cup. Djokovic won their most-recent clash 7-5 6-4 in the 2024 Monte Carlo quarter-finals.
Novak Djokovic Form
Djokovic comes into this contest with a 24-8 record on the season, raising his level over the last couple of months.
It was a difficult start to the season as Djokovic was forced to retire in the Australian Open semi-finals, but he's since made the Miami Masters final, secured his 100th career title in Geneva and defeated Alexander Zverev to reach the French Open semis.
Opting not to play a lead-in tournament on grass, Djokovic has been impressive during this Wimbledon campaign.
After dropping a set to Alexandre Muller in his opening round, Djokovic has been in brilliant form, toppling Dan Evans and Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets.
The 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 win over Kecmanovic was the 100th Wimbledon match win of Djokovic's career and saw him advance into the R16 for the 17th time.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur heads into this encounter with a 30-12 record on the season, but he's dropped out of the top 10 and is yet to win a title so far in 2025.
The Aussie has largely remained consistent throughout the year, headlined by a runner-up finish in Rotterdam, a semi-final run in Monte Carlo and making the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
De Minaur suffered a surprise second round loss at the French Open to Alexander Bublik, where he subsequently declared he was suffering from a bit of mental burnout.
The 26-year-old was eliminated in the opening round of Queen's Club, but he's found some solid tennis in time for Wimbledon - although it must be stated he's received a very kind draw.
De Minaur took care of Roberto Carballes Baena in the opening round before overcoming two qualifiers in Arthur Cazaux and August Holmgren to return to the R16.

Verdict
Djokovic is playing some outstanding tennis at Wimbledon this tournament, while de Minaur isn't quite at the level he was 12 months ago.
Tough to see Demon having the consistent firepower to hit through Djokovic's defences here - backing the seven-time Wimbledon champion in straights.
