Sabalenka has never made the final at Wimbledon, with her best results being a pair of semi-final finishes in 2021 and 2023 - can the top seed return to the final four for a third time in 2025?

I think it's almost a certainty. Sabalenka has a dominant 11-1 record in Grand Slam quarter-finals throughout her career and she's received one of the best draws she could have hoped for at this stage of a major. No disrespect to Siegemund, who has always been a tremendous competitor, but the 37-year-old was 0-6 vs top 50 players on grass before this tournament and has now suddenly put it all together to become the oldest first-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist in the Open Era. Sabalenka is simply the far superior player and she'll likely register her fifth straight sets victory of the tournament.

Head To Head

Sabalenka leads 2-0, but those two victories came all the way back in 2019. For what it's worth, Sabalenka dropped a combined nine games across those two wins in Fed Cup and Strasbourg.

Aryna Sabalenka Form

Sabalenka comes into this contest with a 46-8 record on the season, further cementing herself as the undisputed World No. 1 despite not yet adding to her major trophy cabinet.

Despite falling in three sets in both the Australian Open and Roland Garros finals to Madison Keys and Coco Gauff respectively, Sabalenka has still put together a stellar season, highlighted by winning three titles in Brisbane, Miami and Madrid.

The 27-year-old has made the final in five of her last six major appearances and is on course to reach a first Wimbledon title match this tournament.

Indeed, Sabalenka hasn't dropped a set en route to the quarter-finals, defeating Carson Branstine, Marie Bouzkova, Emma Raducanu and Elise Mertens.

The 7-6 6-4 win over Raducanu in the third round was one of the best matches of the tournament, with Sabalenka saving a set point in the opening set and being one point away from a 5-1 deficit in the second.

Laura Siegemund Form

It's been an extraordinary tournament for Siegemund, who was 10-15 at all levels before Wimbledon, ranked outside the top 100 at No. 104.

Siegemund had only ever registered two wins at Wimbledon throughout her career before this event, and as mentioned earlier, had never beaten a top 50 player on grass.

However, the 37-year-old has defied the odds all week, becoming the oldest first-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist in the Open Era with victories over Peyton Stearns, Leylah Fernandez and Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

The German proceeded to face lucky loser Solana Sierra in the R16 and took full advantage of the draw opening up, closing out a comfortable 6–3 6–2 victory to make just the second Grand Slam quarter-final of her career.

Verdict

It's been a dream tournament for Siegemund, but it ends here.

Sabalenka has been playing great and she was crushing Siegemund back in 2019 - she's obviously a far superior player today. Backing the top seed to cover with a -6.5 games line.
