At least one Italian named Matteo will be in the French Open semi-finals as Matteo Berrettini and Matteo Arnaldi clash in the last eight on Wednesday night in Paris.
One Italian was virtually assured of reaching the Roland Garros quarter-finals from the top quarter of the draw before the tournament, but it certainly wasn't Berrettini or Arnaldi. However, with Jannik Sinner crashing out in the heat, the pair have stepped up and taken advantage, with a huge opportunity awaiting the winner.
Both players have come back from serious injury setbacks, with Berrettini enduring countless surgeries over the last few years, while Arnaldi has recovered from a chronic foot issue that threatened to derail his career for a while there.

Just staggering numbers and I can't see how Arnaldi backs up for another round here. This entire run has to be mentally draining too.
I think Arnaldi can keep one set close and perhaps force his ninth tiebreak of the tournament, but if Berrettini gets in front, I can see him running away with this quarter-final.
