Spelled following a strong victory in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Paradoxium confirmed his Golden Slipper credentials with an all-the-way win in the Todman Stakes at Randwick on March 7.

The Bjorn Baker-trained colt arrived there off a sharp trial win at Rosehill and still appears to have upside heading deeper into the autumn with only one start this year.

In the latest Golden Slipper market with EliteBet, Paradoxium now shares $5 favouritism alongside Chayan, who announced herself with victory in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes on the same Randwick program.

Chayan had finished seventh-of-16 in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes prior to that success but showed strong improvement in Sydney, comfortably accounting for Agrarian Girl after settling prominently throughout.

Warwoven sits on the next line of betting at $6 after producing a strong performance to win the Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes on March 14.

The colt had earlier been sensationally scratched by veterinarians from the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast before returning with a solid fourth-of-10 finish in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes on February 28 and progressing further in the Pago Pago.

Rounding out the single-figure chances is Steisand ($9), whose Victorian form could hold up strongly in a year lacking clear Sydney standouts after the filly won her past two starts, including the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes on February 21.

Golden Slipper Winners

The Golden Slipper is Australia’s most prestigious juvenile race and one of the world’s leading two-year-old contests.

Worth $5 million, the Golden Slipper has been won by some of the greatest juveniles in racing history, many of whom have gone on to successful careers at stud or long, distinguished racing campaigns.

Run over 1200m at Rosehill Gardens, the Golden Slipper headlines one of the biggest days on the Australian racing calendar, with five Group 1 races staged on the same program.

With seven Golden Slipper wins, Gai Waterhouse is the most successful trainer in the race’s history, and in 2020 she secured her first Slipper victory in partnership with Adrian Bott when Farnan took out the event.

Among jockeys, Shane Dye and Ron Quinton share the record, each having ridden four Golden Slipper winners.

Shinzo (2023), Lady Of Camelot (2024) and Marhoona (2025) have claimed the last three editions of the Golden Slipper.
