Despite carrying top weight of 58.5kg, Briasa is a $3 favourite with Ladbrokes to win the 2026 edition of The Galaxy, one of five Group 1's on the Golden Slipper Day meeting.
His spring campaign did taper off in The Everest and the Russell Balding Stakes; however, the gelding had earlier been a second-up winner over Jimmysstar after finishing runner-up on return.
Prior to his Group 1 victory in the TJ Smith Stakes last autumn, Briasa was also unlucky in last year’s edition of The Galaxy, where a wide gate proved costly.
Grafterburners ($4.60) is the second favourite and benefits at the other end of the weight scale, with the colt set to carry just 50.5kg for this feature.
The Queenslander has been progressing nicely, winning three of his past four starts over sprint trips, including an 1100m triumph during the Magic Millions Carnival.
Bridal Waltz ($8) sits on the third line of betting and is a consistent sprinter from the Moody and Coleman stable, with six wins and five placings from 15 starts.
The mare has not finished out of the money in her past eight appearances, a sequence that includes a first-up victory up the Flemington straight on February 28.
Generosity ($9) has been mostly consistent since joining the Chris Waller yard, highlighted by a breakthrough victory for the new stable in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes on March 7.
Marhoona ($9) finished runner-up in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes, and the Michael Freedman-trained filly won the Golden Slipper on this program last year.

The Galaxy is Sydney’s most prestigious sprinting handicap, with the 1100-metre Rosehill feature one of five Group 1 races contested on Golden Slipper Day.
Dating back to 1972, The Galaxy gained Group 1 status in 1984 and has arguably enjoyed its strongest era in recent seasons, with elite sprinters such as Eduardo and Nature Strip among the notable winners who have sat at the top of the Australian sprinting ranks.
Mariamia (2023), Zapateo (2024) and Private Harry (2025) have won the past three editions of The Galaxy.
