This series decider shapes as a tight contest between an undermanned Australian outfit and a confident Indian side that has found its groove.
The visitors have been the more balanced unit across the four matches, with Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma all contributing in key moments. But the Gabba represents a return to fortress territory for the Aussies — they’ve won seven of eight T20 internationals at the venue and famously edged India by four runs the last time they met here under the Duckworth-Lewis system.
Expect pace to dominate early on a true, bouncy Brisbane surface before the batters cash in once the shine fades. The Gabba’s large outfield (75m square, 85m straight) rewards smart placement rather than pure power, while the quick pitch gives fast bowlers a genuine chance with the new ball.
Nathan Ellis continues to be the standout for Australia, with his variations and control again vital after taking 3-21 in Game 4. He’s a strong play in player prop markets for 2+ wickets. For India, Abhishek Sharma looms as the danger at the top of the batting order after showing class and composure throughout the series.
It should go right down to the wire, but with Australia’s record at the Gabba and the pride factor kicking in, the hosts can level things up 2-2. Expect Marsh, Stoinis, and David to attack hard and Maxwell to provide the X-factor.
Head to Head
India lead the five-match series 2-1 after commanding victories in Hobart and on the Gold Coast, while Australia’s MCG triumph feels a long time ago. Game 1 was washed out, meaning that this will either end at 2-2 or a 3-1 series result for India. Across 36 T20Is, India hold the overall edge with 22 wins to Australia’s 12.
At the Gabba, however, the Aussies boast a formidable record — seven wins from eight games — and they’ve restricted opponents under 160 on six of those occasions. This venue has traditionally rewarded disciplined fast bowling and aggressive powerplay batting, which could bring the hosts back into the contest.
Australia Form & Team News
Australia’s campaign has been hampered by player unavailability, but Mitchell Marsh’s side continues to fight. After being bowled out cheaply on the Gold Coast, they’ll be desperate to post a stronger total on Saturday.
Matt Short’s lively 25 and Tim David’s upper-deck six reminded fans of the hitting depth in the side, while Marcus Stoinis and Marsh will need to anchor the innings. Glenn Maxwell’s form remains the key — if he fires, Australia’s total lifts 20–30 runs instantly.
On the bowling front, Nathan Ellis is again the banker, with Adam Zampa’s return providing control in the middle overs. Expect Ben Dwarshuis and Xavier Bartlett to share the new ball on their home deck, exploiting the Gabba’s bounce to trouble India’s top order.
The Aussies’ challenge is depth — they’ll rely heavily on their all-rounders and need early wickets to unsettle India’s momentum.

India Form & Team News
India’s campaign has been marked by composure and depth. After Axar Patel’s all-round heroics in Game 4, the tourists have shown they can win from a variety of positions.
Suryakumar Yadav remains their batting linchpin, while Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive starts have set the tone in the Powerplay. Shubman Gill’s timing and Rinku Singh’s late-innings hitting provide balance across the order.
With Kuldeep Yadav back home, India’s bowling attack has found its rhythm through Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, who will both relish the Gabba’s pace-friendly surface. Axar Patel’s economy and Washington Sundar’s variations have proved crucial in controlling the middle overs.
India’s challenge will be adapting to the Gabba’s bounce — something their pacers will enjoy, but their batters must adjust to quickly. Still, they enter as narrow favourites, buoyed by confidence and form across the squad.
