Djokovic firmly believes that Wimbledon is his best chance to win a 25th Grand Slam title and it's easy to see why - he's made the final in the last six editions of the tournament, with only Carlos Alcaraz beating him at the All England Club since 2017. Djokovic compiled a remarkable winning streak on Centre Court, not losing a single match between 2014 and 2023, while he has an incredible 72-3 record in Grand Slam second rounds, not suffering a defeat at this stage of a major since 2017.
Even with all the upsets at this year's Championships, it's hard to see 35-year-old Evans matching it with the GOAT for five sets. Evans is an excellent grass courter and has the wizardry on this surface with his slice to make life difficult for Djokovic. For this reason, I'm backing the Brit to cover a +8.5 games line. But, Djokovic should ultimately prove too strong.
Head To Head
Evans has stunned Djokovic before, registering a shock 6-4 7-5 victory on his least preferred surface of clay in the R16 of the 2021 Monte Carlo Masters, with the Brit paying $11 on that day.
Novak Djokovic Form
Djokovic heads into this clash with a 22-8 record on the season, restoring some confidence during the latter stages of the clay swing.
The Serbian sensation experienced a tough start to 2025, but still beat Carlos Alcaraz to reach the Australian Open semi-finals, along with reaching the Miami Masters final.
Djokovic captured his elusive 100th career title in Geneva shortly before Roland Garros, where he toppled Alexander Zverev on his way to the semi-finals, where Jannik Sinner proved too good.
Opting not to compete on grass before Wimbledon, Djokovic survived a four-setter in his opening round against Alexandre Muller.
The 38-year-old squandered six set points in the second set and needed a medical timeout early in the third before completing a 6-1, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Dan Evans Form
Evans hadn't won a single main draw match at tour-level this year before the grass swing.
However, heading into this Wimbledon second round clash, Evans has now won five matches, with this grass season helping the Brit salvage his declining career.
Down at No. 154 in the world, Evans made the second round at both s-Hertogenbosch and Queen's Club before enjoying a run to the quarter-finals of Eastbourne, where he beat the likes of Miomir Kecmanovic and Tommy Paul, showcasing he still has the quality on this surface.
Evans has won over 100 career matches on grass and he made use of a good draw in his Wimbledon opener, defeating fellow wildcard Jay Clarke in straight sets.

Verdict
Evans might not play a match this big for the rest of his career, so he'll be wanting to put on a good show here - and he has a chance, with the Brit beating Djokovic on clay before and now he's playing on his favourite surface.
Djokovic almost certainly prevails, but I'm backing Evans to cover a +8.5 games line in defeat.
