Jacob Fearnley vs Joao Fonseca Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's seemingly only a matter of time before Fonseca starts consistently challenging for Grand Slam titles, with the 18-year-old already making a huge impact in his first two major main draws in 2025, beating Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets. The Brazilian will be making his Wimbledon debut here and will have to also combat the home crowd against a familiar foe.

Fearnley has also enjoyed a superb rise to around the top 50 over the last couple of years and made headlines last year when he took a set off Novak Djokovic as a wildcard ranked No. 277. The Scot took a set off Fonseca in their most-recent meeting and has far more experience on grass than his younger opponent. I think this will be big battle, but Fonseca is a special talent and I've got to lean with the 18-year-old to find a way here.

Head To Head

Fonseca leads 2-0, with both meetings coming this season. The Brazilian was a 6-3 6-3 winner at the Canberra Challenger to begin 2025 before prevailing 6-2 1-6 6-3 in the opening round of Indian Wells.

Jacob Fearnley Form

Fearnley has put together a 14-12 record in his first full year on the main tour, rising to a career-high ranking of No. 49.

The 23-year-old has stepped up at the slams in his short career, making the third round at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros, falling to Alexander Zverev and Cameron Norrie respectively.

Having also won a round and took a set off Djokovic in his Wimbledon debut last season, it's clear Fearnley relishes the big occasions.

The Scot has compiled an okay grass swing, losing in the opening round of Stuttgart before a run to the quarter-finals of Queen's Club and second round finish at Eastbourne.

Joao Fonseca Form

Fonseca has registered a 13-10 record at tour-level this season, but his form has dipped from his brilliant start to the season.

The 18-year-old kept his momentum going from the Next Gen ATP Finals at the end of 2024 by winning the Canberra Challenger and qualifying for the Australian Open, where he demolished Andrey Rublev - who was top 10 at the time - in the opening round.

Fonseca went on to win his maiden ATP title in Buenos Aires and second Challenger in Phoenix before making the third round of Miami. However, the Brazilian took a break after that tournament and has lost six of his last 10 matches coming into this clash.

After an opening round loss in Stuttgart, Fonseca made the second round at Eastbourne, going down in three sets to eventual champion Taylor Fritz.
