Swiatek has somewhat flown under the radar heading into the second week of Wimbledon - the Pole has traditionally struggled at this tournament compared to the other slams, while she's also been enduring a tough period on tour over the last 12 months or so, failing to win a title in over 13 months since Roland Garros 2024. However, perhaps lesser expectation is suiting Swiatek - she's only dropped one set en route to her second Wimbledon quarter-final and she finds herself with a favourable matchup here.
Samsonova was 0-4 in Grand Slam R16 matches until breaking that sequence with a win over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and now she's tasked with facing someone she's lost eight consecutive sets against. If there was ever a surface for Samsonova to disrupt Swiatek it's grass, but I can't ignore the H2H here. Swiatek is decent value for a fourth straight sets win over the Russian.
Head To Head
Swiatek leads 4-0 and has won the last eight sets. Samsonova hasn't won more than four games in a set in the last three meetings, the most-recent of which was a 6-4 6-1 victory for Swiatek in the R16 of the 2024 US Open.
Iga Swiatek Form
Swiatek has registered a 39-11 record this season, but has yet to win a title and at one point saw her ranking drop as low as No. 8.
Consistency hasn't been the issue - Swiatek has made at least the quarter-finals in nine tournaments already this season, but she's been repeatedly stumbling at the business end, which is a concerning trend heading deep into the second week of Wimbledon.
However, so far, so good for Swiatek at The Championships - she warmed up for this event with a solid runner-up finish on the grass of Bad Homburg and has continued her good form in London.
Indeed, Swiatek has dropped just one set on her way to the quarter-finals (vs Caty McNally in R2), defeating Polina Kudermetova, Danielle Collins and Clara Tauson in straights.
Swiatek came back from 1-3 down in the opener to ease past Tauson 6-4 6-1 in the R16 and will now look to improve on her only other quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon, which saw her fall to Elina Svitolina in three sets in 2023.
Liudmila Samsonova Form
Samsonova comes into this clash with a 24-15 record on the season and at No. 19 in the world, which is seven places below her career-high of No. 12 earned back in 2023.
It's been a pretty solid season for Samonsova to date - she was the runner-up in Strasbourg, a semi-finalist in Adelaide, made the quarter-finals of Indian Wells and the R16 at Roland Garros.
The 26-year-old, who has won two grass titles in her career, also reached the semi-finals of Berlin just before Wimbledon, defeating Jessica Pegula and current Wimbledon semi-finalist Amanda Anisimova.
Samsonova has stormed into her maiden Grand Slam quarter-final without dropping a single set in victories over Maya Joint, Yuliia Starodubtseva, Daria Kasatkina and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

Verdict
Swiatek has won the last eight straight sets against Samsonova, including a most-recent 6-4 6-1 triumph in the R16 of the US Open last year.
Samsonova is admittedly better on grass, but Swiatek is seemingly playing without pressure and expectation, which makes her dangerous - backing the Pole in for another straight sets triumph.
