It's been a difficult last 12 months for Swiatek - she's been consistently losing in the quarter or semi-finals of big tournaments, including a brutal 6-0 in the third defeat to Aryna Sabalenka at Roland Garros.

Suffering a such a heavy defeat at a tournament she's won four times was a blow for Swiatek - and she decided to take some time off and practice on grass in Mallorca instead of playing at Queens and Berlin.

The move paid dividends as Swiatek made her first final in a year at Bad Homburg, beating the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Jasmine Paolini before falling to Jess Pegula.

Swiatek has continued that good form at Wimbledon, beating Polina Kudermetova, Caty McNally and Danielle Collins for the loss of just one set to reach the R16.

Tauson comes into this encounter with a very solid 27-13 record on the season and operating at No. 22 in the world, which is just one spot off her career-high.

Most of Tauson's good work came at the beginning of the season, where she lifted the title in Auckland and finished runner-up in Linz and the WTA 1000 event in Dubai.

Along with third round runs at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, Tauson also made the Nottingham quarter-finals on grass before Wimbledon.

The 22-year-old was 0-3 at Wimbledon before this event, but she's turned the tables emphatically, coming through tough matches against Heather Watson and Anna Kalinskaya before registering one of the best wins of her career, taking out former champion Elena Rybakina 7-6 6-3.
