What a moment this is for Tarvet, who entered Wimbledon qualifying as the World No. 733 having barely played any professional matches while juggling college commitments in the USA. In fact, this will be the first time Tarvet has faced a top 100 player in his career - and he's coming up against the defending Wimbledon champion on the most famous tennis court on the planet. How you reckon he'll sleep ahead of this one?
Tarvet obviously has nothing to lose and he should be buoyed by the fact Alcaraz has demonstrated a sustained tendency to go walkabout in the early rounds of slams - he hasn't covered a -9.5 games line in his last 14 Wimbledon matches and dropped sets to the likes of Fabian Marozsan and Damir Dzumhur during his run to the Roland Garros title last month, while he went five sets with the retiring Fabio Fognini in his Wimbledon opener. I'm backing Tarvet to make this competitive enough to push the match Over 26.5 total games, but Alcaraz obviously comes out on top.
Head To Head
This will be the first meeting between the pair.
Carlos Alcaraz Form
Alcaraz comes into this contest with a 43-5 record on the season, bringing a 19-match winning streak into the second round of Wimbledon, along with prevailing in 26 of his last 27 grass matches.
The Spaniard has won the last two editions of Wimbledon, beating Novak Djokovic on both occasions in the final. Alcaraz is now aiming to become just the third player this century behind Djokovic an Roger Federer to win Wimbledon three years on the bounce.
Alcaraz has sensationally reached the final in his last five tournaments - and he's won the title in four of those tournaments, including Monte Carlo, Rome, Roland Garros and Queen's Club. In fact, Alcaraz was injured in the final he lost at Barcelona and subsequently pulled out of Madrid as a result.
The 22-year-old battled his way to the Queen's Club title on grass in the perfect lead-in to Wimbledon, but found himself in a torrid battle with the 38-year-old Fognini in his opener, forced to go five sets before recording a 7-5, 6-7(5), 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 in four hours and 37 minutes, improving his five-set record to a staggering 14-1.
Oliver Tarvet Form
Tarvet can boast that right now, he is a perfect 1-0 in his career at tour-level after winning his Wimbledon opening round in straight sets over fellow qualifier Leandro Riedi, 6-4 6-4 6-4.
That was the 21-year-old's first ever main draw match at tour-level after he successfully qualified for the Wimbledon main draw at Roehampton last week, beating the likes of Terrence Atmane, Alexis Galarneau and Alexander Blockx.
Coming into this tournament ranked No. 733 in the world, Tarvet has only played a handful of ITF events in 2025 while juggling his NCAA commitments in the U.S. college system.
Tarvet has compiled an impressive 12-1 record in those ITF tournaments and with his four wins over the last week at Wimbledon, is set to rise into the top 400.

Verdict
Tough to find much value here, but I'm banking on Alcaraz once again not being ruthless in the early rounds of slams.
Tarvet is much better than his ranking suggests and has nothing to lose - I think he can push this Over 26.5 total games.
