Amanda Anisimova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will battle in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. Anisimova, at 23, has had a stellar season, highlighted by her WTA 1000 win in Doha and impressive grass-court performances. She leads their head-to-head 3-0, suggesting a strong likelihood of advancing. Anisimova is aiming to reach the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for just the second time after initially breaking through as a 17-year-old at Roland Garros in 2019, while Pavlyuchenkova - a veteran at 34 years of age - will be looking to overcome a daunting 1-8 record in major quarter-finals throughout her career.
I just feel like this is Anisimova's time. The American is into the top 10 of the live WTA rankings and deserves this moment after going through some difficult moments in her personal life, which saw her take a break from tennis during the 2023 season. Anisimova has won all three of her previous meetings with Pavlyuchenkova and covered a -3.5 games line in all of them, so that's the best bet for this encounter.
Head To Head
Anisimova leads 3-0, including a pair of 2024 victories over Pavlyuchenkova in Washington (6-1 6-7 6-4) and Auckland (7-5 6-4).
Amanda Anisimova Form
It's been a tremendous season for Anisimova, who has compiled a 29-12 record and picked up a big WTA 1000 title in Doha.
Still just 23 years of age, Anisimova is playing her best tennis since coming back on tour, making her first grass court final in the lead-up to Wimbledon at Queen's Club, while she was also a quarter-finalist in Berlin.
Anisimova started her Wimbledon campaign with a bang, demolishing Yulia Putintseva 6-0 6-0, signalling her intent for a big tournament.
The American has continued on through the draw, recovering from a 1-3 deficit in the deciding set against Linda Noskova in the R16 to prevail 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and reach her third Grand Slam quarter-final.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Form
It's been another disrupted season for Pavlyuchenkova in the latter stages of her career, but at the end of the day, the 34-year-old has now reached the quarter-finals in two of the three Grand Slam tournaments of the year.
Pavlyuchenkova kicked off 2025 by making the last eight at the Australian Open (lost to Sabalenka), but was then struck down by Lyme disease, which saw her fail to win a match from early February to Rome in May.
Finding her groove again on grass, Pavlyuchenkova made the semi-finals of Eastbourne before advancing to her first Wimbledon quarter-final since 2016, beating Naomi Osaka before a 7-6 6-4 victory over British hope Sonay Kartal in the R16.
Having played her first Wimbledon main draw all the way back in 2006, Pavlyuchenkova will be aiming to make her first semi-final at the tournament - but she must overcome a poor 1-8 career record in Grand Slam quarter-finals to do so.
