Jannik Sinner vs Learner Tien Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Sinner surging towards Beijing title
Jannik Sinner, ranked No. 2 in the world, is set to face rising star Learner Tien in the China Open final in Beijing. Sinner, although not at his most dominant, has built a formidable record on hard courts and is favored to prevail. Tien, having had a breakout season and defeating several top 10 players, faces his biggest test yet. However, a combination of Sinner’s power and experience, plus some fortunate circumstances in Tien’s recent matches, gives Sinner the edge. Expect a straightforward win for Sinner.

One day after Carlos Alcaraz lifted the Tokyo title, Sinner will look to replicate his great rival by taking home the silverware in Beijing. It's fair to say the Italian hasn't been at his dominant best so far in the Chinese capital - dropping sets to Terence Atmane and Alex de Minaur - but now he's in the final, I expect Sinner to put on a masterclass. Sinner has now advanced into his ninth consecutive final on hardcourt - a record that only Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl have bettered.
Tien meanwhile continues to reach new heights in what has been a glorious breakout season. The 19-year-old had only won three tour-level matches before 2025 - now, he's projected to break into the top 40, while he's excelled against the elite, putting together a 5-2 record vs top 10 players. To put that into context, only Sinner and Alcaraz have registered more. Clearly Tien is a threat against the best, but I just can't see this being a good matchup for him. While an extremely clever and consistent player, Tien is underpowered and I wonder how he's going to finish points off against someone of Sinner's calibre. I'm backing the top seed to prevail with Under 18.5 total games.
Head To Head
This will be the first career meeting between the pair.
Jannik Sinner Form
Sinner has compiled a 41-5 record for the season, advancing into the final in seven of the eight tournaments he's played.
He might have a disappointing 2-4 record in those finals so far, but all four of those defeats have come against Alcaraz. Sinner hasn't lost a final to another player since 2023.
While it was disrupted by a three-month suspension, Sinner won't be complaining about this year - he's picked up two more major titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, while he still has a chance to reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Alcaraz - especially now since the Spaniard has pulled out of Shanghai.
It hasn't been the cleanest tournament in Beijing for Sinner - as mentioned, he's dropped sets to Terence Atmane and Alex de Minaur, while Fabian Marozsan served for the second set in their quarter-final before imploding.
Sinner was able to regroup in his semi-final contest with de Minaur after dropping the second set, closing out a 6-3 4-6 6-2 victory to make it 11 straight wins over the Aussie.
Learner Tien Form
Tien has registered a 23-20 record for the season coming into this contest and will break into the world's top 40 for the first time courtesy of reaching his maiden ATP final in Beijing.
The 19-year-old has been sensational this season, starting off with a brilliant run to the fourth round of the Australian Open and now reaching a 500-level final in the Chinese capital.
The American has won five of his seven meetings with top 10 players and is 7-5 vs top 20 players overall, proving he belongs at this level.
However, there has been an element of luck to Tien's run to the final in Beijing. After beating Francisco Cerundolo and Flavio Cobolli (two very solid victories), Tien benefitted from retirements by Lorenzo Musetti and Daniil Medvedev in the quarters and semis.

Verdict
I expect Sinner to dominate in this matchup. Although Tien has a good record vs top 10 players, I just don't see how he's going to finish points off against the World No. 2. Tien was also in trouble in the quarters and semis before Musetti and Medvedev started experiencing physical issues.
Backing Sinner to prevail in routine fashion.
