Rosehill Tips June 27

Your Eternal Warrior @ The Chase Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Rosehill Favourite - Race 5 No. 1 Surf's Up

It was D-Day fourth-up on June 13, and Surf's Up duly delivered in that latest appearance, recording a soft victory over this track and trip, while she only rises 1.5kg for a race that's arguably weaker against her own sex.

That field included Damien, who had stakes form throughout his two and early three-year-old campaigns, while a very talented stablemate in Tarzing goes around in Race 4 as a leading chance.

The fourth-place getter, Shotgun Bella, had won a good form race over the Scone carnival, while Ertijaaj, another stablemate, was fifth after winning her first two starts in Australia, further strengthening the overall depth of the race.

Importantly, in that last victory, she was able to take a handy position from an inside draw, and Siana Grima again has a low gate at her disposal on Saturday, which should allow Surf's Up to settle in another favourable position.

Also respecting Sequista, who's classy and back in grade after two stakes attempts but is hard to catch and does have a wide draw to overcome.

Ranvet Stayers Cup Tips (Race 6)

Rosehill Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 King Pedro

The rise to 2400m is well worth another try, with his only previous attempt over the distance resulting in a narrow defeat in December before a spell, where he attempted to sustain a wide early move and was only narrowly touched off by the winner after giving that runner the perfect tow into the race.

King Pedro arrives for Saturday's assignment fourth-up after a good return over a mile before almost pulling off an early move at Gosford, a race taken out by the talented Monopolistic, who was then runner-up in the Queensland Derby.

That race has also produced Thebudguesmugla, who won two of his next three starts, the latest at Listed level, while the four-year-old was then five weeks between runs on June 13, where he suffered a narrow defeat that wasn't overturned on protest after being held up for clear running from the 400m to the 200m.

That event was won by Nobler, who completed a hat-trick in the process, and while this is technically a rise in grade, we know there isn't much between these off-season staying benchmarks.

Despite a senior rider replacing the apprentice, he still carries 3kg less than in his last assignment.

Rosehill Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 4 God's Window

After some terrific trial work either side of a nice return on April 18, we were with God's Window second-up on May 23, where he was able to get back and overcome a wide draw in a narrow victory.

Although unable to complete the double on June 6, the son of Dubawi certainly lost no admirers with that runner-up finish, where perhaps remaining at a mile slightly worked against him.

That affair was taken out by the flying Formal Display, who's won four of his five starts this campaign, and that form looks particularly strong heading into this event, while God's Window has also moved well in a subsequent tick-over trial.

He heads into this 2000m assignment with the rise in distance appearing suitable at this stage of the campaign after the encouraging trial since his latest outing.

God's Window was runner-up over this trip during his first Australian preparation and was also Listed placed over 2300m, so the distance shouldn't be a concern, with the Chris Waller-trained import clearly having come on since then.

Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Rosehill Roughie - Race 9 No. 9 Balkans

Richard Litt so often has success with tried horses, especially ex-Godolphin gallopers, and Balkans has rewarded his new connections with three wins since joining the stable early last year.

The pick of those victories was the BM78 success at Canterbury in November before a spell, defeating Istolea Merc, who was then placed in the Mudgee Cup before taking out a BM88 earlier this month.

The first two runs of this preparation were fair at best, but there was improvement shown third-up, while there were excuses last time when he attempted a wide run at Canterbury.

With the speed drawn to his outside here, but still room to move from a middle draw, hopefully he can settle that little bit closer for cover, which should allow him to finish off more effectively.

A major key for Balkans is the 54.5kg after the claim, with him never having carried more than 58kg in a win and having shouldered bigger imposts than that in every run this preparation — some horses simply don't let down with those weights.

Petaluma Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Rosehill Value Bet - Race 10 No. 10 Mr Chaplin

There was enough to like in his trial work ahead of his Australian debut, with Mr Chaplin heavily supported for that Randwick assignment on June 6, where he landed the money.

The four-year-old was able to settle handy but was held up from the 400m until approaching the 200m before negotiating a gap and letting down nicely, while the BM78 has already produced two subsequent winners.

This is a tidy 2.5kg weight drop, admittedly into a higher benchmark but certainly not a vintage BM88, and he appears well placed to measure up again.

His main market threats are Mawjood, who's also up in grade, has drawn wide and is deep into the preparation, while Seven's and Emirate come through the same race, with Hollywood Hero also deserving respect after a good return in a stronger contest despite being right up in the weights and not having won in over a year.

Mr Chaplin can settle close again from barrier three and, with any improvement second-up, looks well placed to go on with it here, although the gelding hasn't seen anything worse than a Soft 5 on race day.
