Morphettville Parks hosts a competitive nine-race program this Saturday, June 27, highlighted by the Listed Oaklands Plate and a strong mix of emerging talent.

Several runners look well placed to improve on recent performances, while others bring proven South Australian form into what shapes as another intriguing afternoon of winter racing.

Sportsbet Blackbook Handicap Tips (Race 2)

Morphettville Value Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Snoopy Now

Although he lacked the turn of foot over 1200m, there was enough to like about the Murray Bridge third on return in a decent BM82 on May 23 before contesting the Swan Hill Cup as a $10 chance when stepping to a mile on June 7.

He over-raced there and found some traffic, while he was a run short regardless in that country feature.

Each-way odds are available again for Snoopy Now despite the big drop in grade to BM78 level, and he'll only strip fitter with that mile run under the belt.

The four-year-old has placed in all three attempts on the Morphettville Parks track, and he was also a Listed-winning three-year-old during last year's Adelaide Carnival.

He was a $5 chance in a Listed race where the rider fell back in November, having won either side of that, so he's more than capable and also gets some relief here after the 1.5kg claim for Taylor Johnstone.

Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Sir Now

The main query on paper is the rise in weight, with 63kg and up 3kg from his last win despite the claim, although these big imposts over shorter sprint trips often aren't a huge factor with the right horse.

Sir Now couldn't be going any better, with the sprinter building a tidy record and, after a brave first-up second, saluting at his past two starts.

From seven tries on the Morphettville Parks track, he's never finished outside the quinella, which includes four victories, while any give in the track is another positive.

His main threats are Deepfloat Diva, although Sir Now has a good head-to-head record against that rival, and Omaha Dawn, who's up in grade after bolting in here on June 6 and winning both attempts on this circuit.

Apprentice Alysha Warren will roll forward and keep him comfortable on the speed, even if he has to sit wide, which didn't stop him bolting in last start at Murray Bridge.

Morphettville Feature Bets - Race 5 No. 3 Power Plan & No. 11 And There You Go

It's hard to be confident in the feature, although there's no major knock on the market elects, with Lalor and Brevitas leading the betting after running the quinella in the two-year-old plate at Murray Bridge, and there's a slight lean towards the Stokes youngster, especially with the stable's terrific record in this race.

At longer odds is Power Plan, along with And There You Go, both worth considering in a competitive edition of the Oaklands Plate.

Power Plan gets blinkers applied after improving off a 1050m debut effort at Balaklava to place on the Parks track over 1250m, and he gives every indication he's primed for 1400m, with his breeding also supporting the rise in distance.

And There You Go was eye-catching on debut at Donald despite receiving no favours after a slow getaway, and she's another who should relish stepping up in trip.

Both are at double-figure odds for those chasing some value, but it is a very open affair.

Morphettville Favourite - Race 8 No. 2 Tobikko

After placing on return in a three-year-old BM68 that has already produced two subsequent winners, Tobikko looked a good thing at Class 1 level second-up on June 13, but he wasn't in the mood there after the race tempo slackened early.

After settling off the speed and being crowded, he over-raced and, despite looming into the race in the straight, that behaviour took away his late dash, although he still wasn't beaten far and remains a lightly raced type with improvement.

Barrier one and a rail to follow look positives, while the slight drop back in trip also appears suitable for the son of Hellbent.

He showed promise during a short first preparation, which included a maiden win over Bardigrub, who sits on the second line of betting for this BM62 contest.

Harry Grace stays aboard Tobikko and is finding his feet in South Australia, riding nine winners in May before striking at 17% this month.

Festival Hire Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Morphettville Best Bet - Race 9 No. 8 Bold Secret

While drawn wide, Bold Secret can push forward again, especially over this longer trip, and he overcame a wide alley when breaking through at Geelong after being ridden like a good thing to score comfortably with blinkers applied ahead of that June 4 assignment.

That could be the confidence booster to get this three-year-old on his way, with the Phillip Stokes-trained youngster always showing plenty of raw talent without putting it all together.

He disappointed punters as an odds-on favourite when fourth at Pakenham first-up, although he still split two subsequent winners over an unsuitable trip.

Bold Secret appears the type who'll continue to improve with racing, and the interstate trip should only bring him on further mentally.

He's a nice horse, and with the extra distance looking well worth a try, the son of Brazen Beau can go on with it this Saturday.
