Caulfield Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Zouper Fund
The jockey and trainer combination of Jabez Johnstone and Ciaron Maher has been a terrific one to follow over winter, with the pair combining for 13 winners since the start of June and striking at 26.7% this season heading into Saturday's Caulfield meeting.
They team up with Zouper Fund, a lightly raced five-year-old who looks somewhat the obvious here, dropping back in grade to a BM78 after being heavily supported via his BM84 Sandown resumption on June 13.
That money wasn't landed, but he still got home strongly with the second-fastest last 600m and last 400m of that meeting, and he's since completed a nice tick-over jump-out at Cranbourne.
His last win was on soft ground in a stronger race than he finds here, that Ballarat Cup Day triumph coming with 60.5kg.
After the claim, Zouper Fund is very well in here with 57.5kg in a field lacking quality, and he can settle closer to the speed from a low draw.

Caulfield Favourite - Race 4 No. 6 Lady Verity
It'll be interesting to see what the market does late with the current favourite, Lady Verity, who is resuming.
Her second winter jump-out on heavy ground was sharp at Caulfield on July 1, winning what was comfortably the fastest 800m heat for the morning, and she does find a very winnable assignment against her own age and sex here.
She was a perfect two-from-two in her second campaign, justified an odds-on quote fresh when breaking through, and there was plenty of merit to the second-up victory before a break.
It was only a narrow margin, but she was in a tricky spot when getting back from a low draw, was held up until the 250m, and had to come around her rivals to salute nicely under Jamie Mott, who remains in the saddle for this fresh engagement.
Her main threat could be Brilliant Horizon, who was a big first-up winner and has been freshened since a second-up miss, where slow recovery was noted post-race.

Caulfield Feature Bets - Race 7 No. 2 Bustling & No. 5 Watchme Win
It's a tough feature to be confident in, with most runners a chance in this Group 3.
Leading a competitive early market is Watchme Win, and while he doesn't want it any wetter, the setup otherwise looks pretty good for what is arguably Adelaide's best sprinter.
He's an excellent fresh horse and also brings terrific 1100m stats, while still carrying some residual fitness from late autumn after last racing in The Goodwood, a campaign that opened with back-to-back seconds.
He couldn't progress in Melbourne last spring after a fresh win, but there was some excellent subsequent form, including a fourth at Flemington in a Derby Day sprint that produced three Group 1 winners before running into Jigsaw in the Meteorite.
Bustling is now somewhat forgotten at an each-way price after failing in Sydney, but he did pull up lame there, and both of his Caulfield runs to open the campaign suggested that the Price & Kent Jnr yard had him working towards his best.

Caulfield Best Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Ten Commandments
One of the more improved horses in the country is Ten Commandments.
Unbeaten in two runs for the Ciaron Maher stable, and interestingly enough, the two victories this campaign saw him record both his inaugural first-up victory and first-ever second-up win, further indicating how well he's going.
After covering ground and bolting in fresh at Sandown, the rise in grade and trip at Flemington last time out didn't trouble him, with another comfortable victory.
After the Jabez Johnstone claim, he's right down in the weights again with just 50kg, and fitness at winter time is always a positive, especially when taking on some classier types here.
Of his main threats, Rise of Dawn has to warrant respect resuming in this company, as he's a good fresh horse, while the latest jump-out suggested there was genuine intent for this first-up assignment, and the Hayes yard also has Coeur Volante, who is classy and aiming for a hat-trick.

Caulfield Value Bet - Race 9 No. 11 Beach Pad
Connections opted not to back up Beach Pad for the June 27 program at Caulfield, having run seven days prior at Flemington, which was in stronger grade than these faces here.
There was merit to that last performance, being cramped for room at the start and settled well back as a result before being completely unsuited by the race shape, although he still got home fairly well under the circumstances, despite never being in winning contention.
The prep opened with a good Warrnambool effort, making some inroads from back in the field with 62.5kg, and he progressed off that to salute over the Swan Hill Carnival.
Prepared by the astute Shane Jackson, Beach Pad handles all conditions, and the slight rise in trip is also a positive at this stage of the campaign.
Beach Pad is well placed at BM84 level with 55.5kg, which is 5kg less than he carried to victory second-up and only up 2kg from that deeper last event at Flemington.
