Victorian Wednesday racing will be staged at Bendigo on August 26, where an eight-race card has been assembled at the "Nursery Of Champions."

Ranbuild Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)

Bendigo Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Carry Trade

There were excuses for Carry Trade when finishing fourth second-up at Bendigo on July 30, where the filly covered ground throughout over 1400m.

The form from that maiden has since stood up well, with the second, fifth and sixth placegetters all saluting at their next starts, while her latest run followed a solid runner-up finish at Seymour 11 days earlier.

With two winter runs now under the belt, the daughter of Deep Field gets blinkers applied for the first time as she rises to a mile, with the breeding through her dam side suggesting the extra distance should hold no concerns.

Both runs this preparation have come on rain-affected ground, including her return on a Heavy 9, while there was also promise earlier in the year through a pair of February placings at starts two and three.

Outside of rearing at the start and dislodging her rider on debut at Seymour in December, Carry Trade has done little wrong and looks to be building towards a win, with underrated hoop Jason Maskiell retaining the ride in what appears a very winnable maiden.

Bendigo Value Bets - Race 6 No. 1 Col Klink & No. 8 Written Glow

Two runners making each-way appeal in the sixth are Col Klink and Written Glow, with the former returning after an impressive Geelong maiden victory on April 10.

Lindsey Smith elected to spell Col Klink after that first-up success and his winter trial work has been sharp, including a third in a synthetic heat won by smart stablemate Set Me Loose before taking out his latest trial at Geelong on a Soft 7.

Lightly raced with upside, Col Klink appears to be progressing the right way after showing promise through his first campaign, and while he may eventually furnish over further, he looks forward enough to be dangerous fresh in this Class 1.

Written Glow is also of interest after winning all the way on debut in New Zealand before joining the Hayes stable, with genuine excuses for her Australian debut defeat on June 27 when EIPH and lameness were detected after the three-year-old fillies' handicap.

She was quickly spelled after that outing and now drops sharply in grade for her return, having completed two August jump-outs and won the latest at Flemington under Blake Shinn, who takes this fresh engagement.

Bendigo Roughie - Race 8 No. 1 Raging Bull

There has been early support at huge odds for Raging Bull, with a bolter's quote still available for the eight-year-old as he drops sharply in grade.

He was shorter in betting last time when contesting a 2000m Open Handicap at Caulfield on June 27, although he may now be best kept fresh and around the mile, where several of his better performances for the Arthur Pace stable have come.

That includes a victory over this distance last August when breaking a lengthy drought, while there were some strong form references later in that campaign, highlighted by a Group 3 placing in the Bendigo Cup over 2400m.

This preparation began with a third over the mile at Seymour in BM78 company before a freshen-up and a sixth-of-13 at Flemington on June 6, again over 1600m, where he carried 60kg in metropolitan BM78 grade.

This represents a significant drop back to a country BM70 and Brittany Button's 3kg claim provides further relief, while Raging Bull has placed in both previous visits to Bendigo and certainly has the class to make his presence felt.
