LASK Linz vs Celtic UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction - More goals expected in Champions League qualifier

Celtic hold a dominant 3-0 advantage heading into the second leg against LASK Linz in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, but the Austrian side's attacking threat shouldn’t be underestimated after an unlucky first leg. LASK boasted 20 shots and two offside goals, indicating their scoring potential remains high, especially on home turf. With both teams in strong domestic form and open attacking play expected, over 2.5 goals is a strong tip. Key players to watch are Celtic’s Camilo Duran and LASK’s Samuel Adeniran, both likely to be involved in the goals.

LASK Linz vs Celtic UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction

The first leg was an extremely open and entertaining game, with Celtic scoring three bangers to seize the initiative in this Champions League qualifier. Big ask for Linz to get back into the tie, but I'm expecting more goals as the hosts give it their all in front of their home fans at the Raiffeisen Arena on Tuesday night.

Celtic hold a 3-0 advantage coming into this clash, but that score doesn't paint an accurate picture of what transpired in Glasgow last week. LASK were incredibly unfortunate not to come away with something more, registering a total of 20 shots and a higher xG of 1.58 to 0.93. The Austrian outfit also created two big chances and had the ball in the back of the net on two occasions, with each ruled out for offside - including an absolute worldie strike from Moses Usor after just 30 seconds.

On the flip side, Celtic took their chances - but all three of their goals were screamers as Benjamin Nygren and Camilo Duran got on the scoresheet from outside the box. So while Celtic deserved their win, there was also an element of luck and somewhat of a deceptive scoreline, which means LASK can potentially turn the tables on their own turf.

With LASK needing to go for it, it should be another wide open game, so Over 2.5 goals is the best bet for this second leg. With a little more efficiency and composure, LASK can take advantage of what looks like a vulnerable Celtic defence and score at least twice, with big American striker Samuel Adeniran likely to be heavily involved up front.

Duran has been hugely impressive since arriving from Qarabag in the summer for Celtic and looks good to add to his brace from the first leg.
  • LASK had 20 shots & had two goals ruled out for offside in the first leg
  • There was a total of 38 shots in the first leg, with LASK winning the xG count 1.58 to 0.93
  • LASK have scored 2+ goals in nine of their last 10 competitive games
  • Samuel Adeniran had six total shots & three on target in the first leg
  • Adeniran has registered 11 shots in three games in the Austrian Bundesliga this season (five on target)
  • Duran has three goals in his last three games for Celtic, including a double in the first leg, while he also scored five goals in the Champions League last term for Qarabag

LASK Linz vs Celtic Head To Head

As mentioned, Celtic came away with a 3-0 win over LASK in the first leg in Glasgow last week. That was the only previous competitive meeting between the two teams.

LASK Linz Form Analysis

LASK enjoyed a historic 2025/26 campaign, securing the Austrian Bundesliga title for the first time since the 1964/65 season and earning direct passage into the final qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Dietmar Kühbauer's side has also carried its domestic momentum into the new season, opening with four consecutive victories while scoring an impressive 16 goals. Highlights include a commanding 7-0 rout of SC Kalsdorf and a convincing 4-1 win over SV Ried.

However, more European disappointment could be on the cards. After failing to win any of the Conference League matches last term, LASK must now overturn a big 0-3 deficit to qualify into the Champions League.

The Austrian side were impressive and created tons of chances in the first leg, but they just couldn't find the back of the net.

LASK Linz Team News

No fresh injury concerns for LASK, but Ramiz Harakate remains sidelined with an ACL injury.

After threatening throughout the first leg, LASK are expected to field a similar starting side for this clash, with Moses Usor and Samuel Adeniran leading the line.

LASK Linz Possible Starting XI (3-4-1-2): Lukas Jungwirth; Xavier Mbuyamba, Joao Victor Alemao, Andres Andrade; Kasper Jorgensen, Krystof Danek, Robert Ljubicic, George Bello; Sascha Horvath; Moses Usor, Samuel Adeniran

Celtic Form Analysis

Celtic enjoyed another memorable campaign last season, producing when the pressure was at its highest. A 3-1 victory over Hearts on the final day sealed the Scottish Premiership title before the Hoops completed the domestic double by defeating Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup final.

That momentum has carried seamlessly into the new campaign, with Martin O'Neill's side winning all four competitive matches while scoring 13 goals and conceding just once.

Celtic opened with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Dundee before producing a scintillating 6-1 away victory against Kilmarnock, where Kasper Hogh stole the headlines with a first-half hat-trick.

The Bhoys were equally impressive in the Scottish League Cup, cruising to a 4-0 triumph over Dundee United. Benjamin Nygren delivered a standout display with a goal and two assists, while Auston Trusty, Camilo Durán and Sebastian Tounekti also got on the scoresheet.

Nygren was again in spectacular form in the first leg against LASK, opening the scoring with a brilliant strike from outside the box, along with turning provider for the second of Camilo Duran's goals after the Colombian also fired home a stunning volley in the first half as Celtic came away with a big 3-0 triumph and one foot in the Champions League competition proper.

Celtic Team News

Jota remains out with a long-term injury. Alistair Johnston is also sidelined with a hamstring problem.

O'Neill should field a similar side that got the job done in the first leg, with Hogh and Yang Hyun-Jun supporting Nygren and Duran in a dangerous attack.

Celtic Possible Starting XI (4-3-3): Viljami Sinisalo; Colby Donovan, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, Kieran Tierney; Benjamin Nygren, Callum McGregor, Mika Baur; Camilo Duran, Kasper Hogh, Hyun-Jun Yang

Verdict

Goals should be the order of the day, with Duran and Adeniran backed in prop bets.
