Belmont Best Bet - Race 3 No. 10 Deep Lyric

There's clearly a big opinion of Deep Lyric, as despite the filly completing only a sole 400m trial when taking out a heat on June 22, she was thrown straight in the deep end to contest a Saturday three-year-old 62+ here on June 27.

While a notable late drifter in the market, she would have won that 1000m assignment with any luck, finding the lead initially before William Pike took hold when the speed came around him.

Perhaps a rare poor move by "The Wizard" if you were on that day, but an understandable one to have Deep Lyric settle in just her first start rather than burning her early.

After being shuffled back in the straight and held in restricted room on the inside, she flew home along the rails, recording the fastest last 400m and last 200m of the program while being particularly strong through the line.

If there's any natural improvement from that first race-day appearance, she can atone on Saturday, with the extra 200m appearing suitable.

Glenroy Chaff Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Belmont Favourite - Race 4 No. 7 Brazen Butcher

He was underwhelming when respected in the market for a 64+ here on June 20, and there may have been some excuses for that failure, with Brazen Butcher locking his jaw around the turn and laying out as a result.

Trainer Josh Brown has now opted for the cross-over noseband aboard the three-year-old, who might also be better suited back in trip for now, as he's still putting it all together, while William Pike regains the ride.

The champion hoop was aboard for the first-up romp at Belmont over this track-and-trip on June 3.

Ability was evident early, while he was given time after a disappointing spring campaign, with bone chips removed from a knee before a lengthy spell.

This is a weak race, and anything resembling his fresh run would see him salute, while one at longer odds to include is Catch The Red Eye, who should have gone close first-up after a puzzling steer, electing to ride for luck instead of following the quinella.

Beaufine Stakes Tips (Race 7)

Belmont Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Repossession

Last year's Beaufine Stakes winner is looking to break a drought that stretches back to this feature triumph in 2025.

While he hasn't saluted in seven subsequent starts this season, there have still been some very competitive performances in hot races.

The pick of those fresh runs came in the Group 3 Prince of Wales on November 1, while the latest was on March 21 when just pipped late by Oscar's Fortune, over whom he now has a 4.5kg weight swing.

Repossession looks much better suited here under the handicap conditions after being stretched out over further in his past two preparations.

While there have been some solid 1100m and 1200m efforts, he could be an out-and-out five-furlong horse, as his record indicates, with all five wins coming over this trip, and each-way odds are available in an open affair.

Lawn Pride Australia Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Triple The Chant

A half-sister to the very talented but frustrating Triple Missile, a Listed winner who we didn't quite see the best of, Triple The Chant was impossible to miss via her June 17 resumption when launching late from back in the field.

She recorded the race's fastest closing sectionals to just miss over six furlongs, a journey well short of her best, and while her winning form has come over further, the extra 200m here is still a tick.

Triple The Chant has proven that she can sprint home off a slow tempo, so a wide draw for a galloper who will settle back isn't the end of the world.

This Belmont finale is light on for quality, with those more fancied in the market perhaps better suited at the trip and carrying greater race fitness, but none are world beaters.

With a decent tail outside of them, she's at least an each-way contender here, and we'll know by the last race of the day if the track pattern is in her favour.
