Following a first-up defeat in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes, Joliestar atoned in style when recording a stylish second-up triumph in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap.

Her prior two victories were both over the Randwick 1200m and she was unlucky over this track/trip in The Everest last spring.
Joliestar ($3.60) is favourite with Unibet Australia to win the 2025 TJ Smith Stakes.
Briasa ($4) wasn't suited in The Galaxy, where the four-year-old came from back and wide on a Golden Slipper Day program that favoured runners settling on the rail.
It was still a strong return from the Team Hawkes galloper and prior to that March 22 return, he had won six of his first seven starts.

TJ Smith Stakes Winners
First run and won in 1997 by Mahogany, a number of the finest sprinters in Australia have taken out the TJ Smith Stakes - including Chautauqua, Black Caviar, Nature Strip and the unforgettable Takeover Target.
The race gained Group 1 status in 2005 and today it's worth $3 million, with this 1200m feature one of four Group 1's contested on the opening day of The Championships from Royal Randwick.
Following up from the The Galaxy, which is run two weeks prior, the TJ Smith Stakes is the premier sprint of the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
