2025 Coolmore Stud Stakes Best Bet - Tentyris

Mark Zahra is arguably the best big-race jockey in Australia, and it’s been a good spring for the gun hoop, having ridden doubles on each of the past three Saturday Melbourne programs.

He sticks with Tentyris following a second-up Gothic Stakes triumph, where the Godolphin colt produced the race-fastest closing sectionals to arrive late.

This youngster looks to be peaking at the right time, having resumed with a solid blowout effort up the straight for third in the Danehill Stakes, a race where the quinella came down the fast lanes.

Tentyris held his form deep into his first campaign, which culminated with a stylish Randwick success at start four before heading to the paddock.

2025 Coolmore Stud Stakes Value Bet - Skyhook

Skyhook felt the pinch in the fast-run Golden Rose dominated by Beiwacht, with both the freshen-up and drop in distance looking positives here.

He should’ve finished ahead of that rival over this journey when third in The Run To The Rose, taken out by Tempted — who was runner-up in The Everest.

He’s been at his most effective when tracking opposition in slowly run races, which was evident first-up when saluting at Rosehill.

For a galloper still putting it all together, Skyhook hasn’t done much wrong and was doing his best work late in a straight-track jump-out on October 24.

2025 Coolmore Stud Stakes Roughie - Legacy Bound

The forgotten horse could be Legacy Bound, a gelding who created an impression with back-to-back wins in his first campaign in April.

He made it a hat-trick when recording a workmanlike win here over 1100m on resumption in September before contesting the Group 2 Danehill Stakes.

In the worst part of the straight on the October 4 program, there was still merit to his performance, finishing just 0.3 lengths behind Tentyris.

Getting to 1200m is a positive in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, with both autumn victories coming over this trip, and he looked sharp winning an October 20 jump-out.
