The 159-run victory was flattering in the end for Australia with a three-wicket middle order stand in the second innings of Travis Head, Beau Webster and Alex Carey saving the Australians from a much closer result.
What boosts the Aussies is that Steve Smith is expected to return for the second test and give Australia much more depth in their batting order if you consider that the former Aussie captain has been the inform batter of the test squad over the last season or two.
