Eagle Farm Tips October 3

Brubecks Boutique Foods Class 3 Handicap Tips (Race 3)

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Global Eclipse

No superstar during his time in Victoria, but Global Eclipse was a very honest galloper and his relatively low rating gives Chris and Corey Munce plenty to work with now that he has moved into an easier Queensland jurisdiction.

The son of Pierata went around favourite on stable debut over 1350m at Ipswich on September 2 and produced a sound effort with excuses behind Metaphorically, who franked the form by winning at Saturday BM78 level at his next appearance.

Global Eclipse bounced straight off that run over 1640m at Doomben on September 16, doing plenty of work after racing wide before pressing forward to settle outside the leader and still proving too tough late.

That victory was also his first success below 2000m, which only adds to the appeal of getting out to 1820m third-up here, where barrier two should allow Martin Harley to give him an economical run close to the speed.

The Munce stable is ticking along nicely and has again found a suitable assignment for the five-year-old, who looks capable of finding further improvement as the distances increase and could easily pick off more races this campaign.

Ladbrokes More On Tote Win BM78 Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 4 No. 11 Glounthaune

The eight-year-old has had a few homes during his career and is now with Gold Coast trainer Kelly Purdy, producing a pass-mark performance on stable debut at the Gold Coast on September 19 when ninth over 1400m after beginning awkwardly.

This is an aggressive placement stepping into BM78 company off his current rating, but Glounthaune has always possessed more ability than the raw number suggests and showed that when winning a Randwick Midway for Gregory Hickman in April last year.

His following preparation never really came together, although the winter form in New South Wales before heading north was far from hopeless, including respectable efforts at Warwick Farm, Illawarra Grange and Newcastle.

Most of this field is weighted close to its ceiling, whereas Glounthaune drops to the 52kg minimum and gets significant weight from his rivals, which could make him dangerous on the spacious Eagle Farm circuit given he is capable of producing a strong finish when everything falls into place.

Angela Jones takes the ride from barrier four, and she has started to rebuild momentum after missing the winter, making Glounthaune an interesting knockout chance at a big price.

Sky Racing Class 3 Plate Tips (Race 6)

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 11 Scripted

It is getting close to D-Day for Scripted, who gets a suitable Class 3 Plate setup with Ben Thompson aboard and enough speed engaged for the Matthew Dunn-trained mare to settle off the pace before being produced late.

The daughter of Written By arrives hard fit after three competitive Sydney runs at BM78 level, finishing fourth over 1200m at Randwick before placing over 1500m at Rosehill and then returning there to finish fourth, beaten less than a length, on September 12.

She has finished in the top two in both previous Eagle Farm appearances and returned from a lengthy spell last summer with a string of competitive performances after winning both starts during her first preparation.

One of the more frustrating defeats came in the Country Championships Wildcard at Scone in March, where she was narrowly beaten by Warrior For Peace, who was racing in excellent form and subsequently won again over 2100m at Tamworth.

Scripted gets the right track, race fitness, suitable set-weight conditions and a favourable race shape on Saturday, so after a series of near misses this looks an excellent opportunity for her to finally convert another competitive preparation into a win.

XXXX One Metro Win Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Pocketmoney

Pocketmoney looks better placed under the One Metro Win conditions of this 1400m assignment, where she drops 3.5kg from her September 19 appearance at the Gold Coast.

The five-year-old was competitive there when finishing fifth-of-10 but just lacked the killer blow when it was needed, and blinkers go on for the first time on Saturday in an attempt to sharpen her up.

She should now be close to peak fitness with two runs completed following a freshen-up, having felt the pinch late when resuming over 1200m at Eagle Farm on September 5.

That return run was only the second time she had finished outside the placings at Eagle Farm, with three wins from five previous attempts at the track, including her only start over this course and distance.

Tahlia Fenlon takes the ride and has been in terrific form for the Chris and Corey Munce stable this season, with the pair combining for seven winners at a 28% strike rate, adding further appeal to a mare who gets back to a more suitable setup on Saturday.
