Marnus Labuschagne is expected to play for the first time since being dropped from the Test side. Aaron Hardie could fill the all-rounder role.

South Africa Form


South Africa, like Australia, have not played ODI cricket since the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. They also reached the semi-final stage before going down to New Zealand.

The Proteas have a mixture of experience and youth within their squad and should more than just challenge the Aussies here. 

When these two last met it was at the 2023 Cricket World Cup where South Africa won a group stage game against the Aussies, but Australia won the semi-final encounter.

Dewald Brevis should make his ODI debut after some superb form in the T20I series. 

Wiaan Mulder could some come back into the side while Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj are likely to conclude the bowling attack.
