Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades Big Bash League Expert Tips
Perth are tipped to prevail in this matchup after dropping their most recent game at home against the Thunder on the very last ball of the game.
The Scorchers are and have been one of the strongest team’s on their home field for a number of years. They are 2-1 this season and have won 14 of their last 18 played at home. It is expected to be clear skies and 24 degrees when the bat is flipped on Tuesday night.
Both teams have averaged low match totals in their last 5 games with Optus Stadium usually chucking out low totals. Both sides are averaging less than 10 fours in their past 5, the Scorchers also have one of the lowest rates of opposition sixes at just 4.8 per game.
The Renegades top order save for Josh Brown have struggled for consistent runs and my guess is the trend will continue against the strong bowling attack of Perth. Mitch Marsh will be looking to dust off the cobwebs following his axing from the Test team, let’s get on him to be the best of the batsmen.
- Perth are 14-4 at home in their last 18 games.
- The batting averages at Optus are 165 (1st Inn) and 147 (2nd Inn), a 312 total.
- Both teams average fewer than 10 fours in their last 5 games.
- Mitch Marsh is the 2nd highest BBL run scorer of all time.

Perth Scorchers Form
The Scorchers are 3-3 on the season sitting at 4th on the ladder with 3 games remaining in the regular season. They receive a boost to this upcoming match against the Renegades with Australian T20 captain Mitch Marsh returning to the squad for the first time in almost 3 years.
Perth’s most recent matchup was against the Sydney Thunder, a game in which the Thunder won on the very last ball of the game reaching and exceeding the Scorchers total of 177. The home team was sent into bat first with Finn Allen knocking 68 off 31 with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Cooper Connolly continued his breakout form staying unbeaten on 43 from 31 with 5 boundaries to set a high total at Optus.
David Warner was again a difficult task for the bowling attack of the Scorchers with him and Matt Gikes both getting 40+ runs and steadying the team. Lance Morris was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets off 4 overs for just 5.5 runs per over, an almost unseen number in T20 cricket.
Perth are 2-1 at home this season but have yet to win a batflip on home turf.

Melbourne Renegades Form
The first of two Melbourne derbies played out on Saturday with the Rengades failing to restrict the Stars to a low total losing the game by 5 wickets with 2 balls remaining.
The Renegade openers once again had a poor day at the office, Josh Brown went for 6 while Jake Fraser-McGurk managed just 12. Fraser-McGurk is averaging just 11 runs this BBL campaign with a top score of 26. Jacob Bethell and Jonathan Wells steadied the ship for Melbourne batting at 4th and 5th both scoring 45+ runs.
Gurinder Sandhu was called in for his first game as a Renegade picking up 3 wickets with the ball for just 29 runs off 4 overs. Tom Rogers was the only other bowler to take a wicket with the reliable Will Sutherland now going without in his last 2 games after taking 7 in his first 4 of the season.
Melbourne are yet to win a game as the road team but have been averaging 18.3 boundaries per game when visiting opponents.

Verdict
I am backing the Scorchers to take the win and Mitch Marsh to be the best batter on the team. The handicap is a little large so staying away from that and just going pure moneyline.
