Hobart have won 5 in a row since their game 1 embarrassment against the Renegades which saw them bowled out for 74 runs in 12.4 overs. Whilst they will have gotten over the result you can guarantee they will be out for vengeance in this one.
Mitch Owen has been one of the most impactful batters in the league this season with 194 runs in 5 games and a 302.3 Batting Impact rating. Riley Meredith has been the pick of the Canes bowlers with 8 wickets from 6 games at a 7.72 economy rate.
Tom Rogers has taken the most wickets of any bowler in BBL14 with 15 from 8 games and will be hopeful that the Renegades batters can get off the mark to give their team any hope of being competitive in the game.
I am backing Hobart to get the victory and with totals often being high at Bellerive Oval we need to get behind both teams to take this Game Total Over. Mitch Owen will be looking to finish in the top 10 for runs this season, back him to be the best of the Hurricanes batters.
- The Hurricanes have covered this line in their last 5 games.
- Hobart have won 5 straight and have done so both batting or bowling first.
- The Average game total at Bellerive this season is 321.25 runs.
- Mitch Owen is averaging 40.4 per game this season, the highest of any Hobart batter.

Hobart Hurricanes Form
The Hurricanes beat the Sydney Thunder by 6 wickets on Friday, elevating themselves to equal first in the standings with the Sydney Sixers, second just on Net Run Rate.
Hobart sent the Thunder in to bat and it was Riley Meredith who had early success taking the important wicket of Sam Konstas in the 4th over. The Canes were unable to get through David Warner’s defence but with only 2 other batsmen making double digits they went into the changeover with high hopes.
The second innings started nervously for the home team losing Matt Wade and Mitch Owen in the first 13 balls. It wasn’t until Nikhil Chaudhary and Tim David joined forces that the game started to steady. Chaudhary hit 29 off 23 but it was David who whallopped 4 fours and 6 sixes on his way to 68 not out off 38 balls securing the win for his team.
Hobart have gone unbeaten in their last 5, averaging 22 boundaries per game while giving up just 16.6 to their opponents. The Thunder did not hit a 6 in their most recent matchup, the first team this year to do so.

Melbourne Renegades Form
Melbourne were unable to chase down their cross-city rivals in Sunday night’s derby. They were set 165 but were bowled out for 123 with just 1 ball remaining in the innings.
Choosing to bowl first has been the winning recipe for most teams this season and with the Renegades Tom Rogers taking Sam Harper with the very first ball of the game things were looking extremely positive for the Gades. The Stars Tom Rogers also fell for a Golden Duck batting at 4th and the Renegades were in command at 4-45.
Glenn Maxwell was the thorn in their side once again hitting 90 off 52 balls including 10 sixes to lift the opposition to a respectable total.
Melbourne’s top order failed to fire once again with Josh Brown (4), Marcus Harris (1) and Jacob Bethell (1) combining for just 6 runs with Jake Fraser-McGurk at least getting to 19. Tim Seifert tried his best to steady the ship with 26 off 26 but the bowling attack just had too much strike power on the day.
