Noskova arrived at Wimbledon as one of the in-form players in the draw after winning the WTA 500 title in Berlin and she's continued her high level to advance into a second Grand Slam quarter-final, coming off a fantastic straight sets victory over former Australian Open champion Madison Keys in the previous round.

Meanwhile, Mertens has made a surprise run to the quarter-finals - the Belgian had failed to win consecutive matches in eight of her nine previous tournaments, but she's found her best tennis at SW19, conquering second seed Elena Rybakina along the way.

This will be the first meeting between the pair and it goes without saying it's a fantastic opportunity for both - but I have to side with Noskova.

The Czech has been the far superior player all year and she's got sustained form - both in general and on grass - on the board. Mertens is always a tough opponent, but this just feels like Noskova's time and again, her level has just been higher over a longer period of time. I'm taking the World No. 12 in straights.

It's been a great season for Noskova and you've got to think she'll be back inside the top 10 again very soon.

The 21-year-old made the semi-finals of Indian Wells and quarter-finals of Madrid before capturing her second WTA title on the grass of Berlin a few weeks ago.

That triumph was the perfect preparation for Wimbledon, where Noskova has advanced to the quarter-finals for the first time, eclipsing her R16 finish from 12 months ago.

Noskova opened with a straight sets dispatch of Ella Seidel before overcoming Camila Osario and Sorana Cirstea in three sets. The Czech then produced her best match of the tournament to topple Madison Keys 6-4 7-6 in the fourth round.

Mertens has been a very solid player for a long time now, but she hasn't been at her best over the last few years and not really come close to getting back to her career-high ranking of No. 12, which she achieved eight years ago.

The Belgian wasn't in good form prior to Wimbledon, failing to win back-to-back matches in eight of her last nine tournaments, while her last quarter-final was in Monterrey in August last year.

However, Mertens has turned things around at Wimbledon, highlighted by a brilliant straight sets upset of second seed Elena Rybakina in the third round.

Mertens backed up that win with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Marie Bouzkova, snapping a three-match losing run in Wimbledon fourth round matches.
