Fery has defied expectations with a series of epic comebacks, but fatigue may catch up to him after so many grueling matches. Flavio Cobolli vs Arthur Fery Wimbledon Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Flavio Cobolli looks to advance into a second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final when he faces British wildcard Arthur Fery in the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Wednesday.

First of all, what a run by Fery. The 23-year-old had a career-high ranking of No. 114 and won just two Grand Slam main draw matches before this tournament, but has put together an extraordinary run to the quarter-finals, highlighted by multiple comebacks and five-set epics - most recently upsetting Grigor Dimitrov in a final-set tiebreak.

However, the former Stanford University standout has got be running on fumes after all the physical and mental energy spent across the last fortnight. Fery was down a set in his first and second rounds, while he trailed by a break against Zizou Bergs in the fifth set of their third round before recovering from two-sets-to-one down and a break in the fourth against Dimitrov.

You just get the feeling Fery has pulled off all the escape acts in him for this tournament and Cobolli should be in for a routine day at the Wimbledon office.

Of course, the Italian isn't the most reliable player out there, but on a stage as big as this, I think he knuckles down and handles his business. Cobolli conquered Alex de Minaur in straight sets in his previous round and the French Open runner-up should be able to produce a similar sort of victory here.
  • Cobolli has won 18 of his last 24 matches
  • Cobolli has won seven of his 10 matches vs non-top 100 players this year
  • Fery's only previous match vs a top 10 player was a straight sets loss vs Medvedev at Wimbledon 2023
  • Fery is the first player outside the top 100 to make a Wimbledon quarter-final since 2014
  • Cobolli's last five wins vs players outside the top 100 have come in straight sets

Cobolli vs Fery Head To Head

Fery leads 1-0, but you can't take much from their 2026 Australian Open first round encounter, with Cobolli struggling at the time with a stomach bug.

Flavio Cobolli Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 27-14
  • Wimbledon Record: 9-2
  • Current Ranking: No. 10
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 10 (June 2026)

Cobolli has been rocks or diamonds throughout 2026, but it's certainly been more of the latter lately, with the Italian surging into the top 10 and back-to-back major quarter-finals.

After struggling at the start of the year, Cobolli has improved considerably, obviously highlighted by his run to the Roland Garros final last month, where he was one set away from defeating Alexander Zverev for the title.

Taking some time off to deal with some niggling injuries, Cobolli rocked up at Wimbledon without a match on grass for the year, but having made the quarter-finals last year.

The Italian has returned to that stage, surviving some early tests against Mariano Navone and James Duckworth before recovering from a first set bagel to come back and defeat Karen Khachanov in five sets in the third round.

Cobolli was down a break in two of his three sets against Alex de Minaur in the fourth round, but produced his most polished performance of the tournament, registering a 7-5, 7-6(4) 6-3 victory to become just the third Italian man to make multiple Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Arthur Fery Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 8-4
  • Wimbledon Record: 4-3
  • Current Ranking: No. 114
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 114 (June 2026)

Fery has been building nicely over the last couple of years after honing his tennis craft at Stanford University - but nobody could have quite predicted this run to the quarter-finals, with the Brit becoming just the fifth wildcard in the Open Era to make the last eight at Wimbledon.

The 23-year-old was in good form ahead of the tournament, making the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 event at Queens, where he went down in three sets to eventual champion Francisco Cerundolo.

But, with just two Grand Slam main draw wins under his belt, Fery's ceiling before Wimbledon was probably a third round at best.

The Brit has blown those expectations out of the park, putting together an incredible run to the last eight.

Fery recovered from a set down to defeat Damir Dzumhur and Otto Virtanen in his opening two rounds before coming back from two-sets-to-one down to edge out Eastbourne champion Zizou Bergs, winning the final two sets in tiebreaks.

Once again, Fery was forced to dig deep and come from behind in the R16 against 35-year-old Grigor Dimitrov, recovering from a break down in the fourth to force a deciding set before taking the ensuing tiebreak, sending Centre Court into euphoric celebrations.
