Sinner leads their head-to-head and, despite not being at his peak, remains a slight favorite if he handles the conditions. Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Wimbledon Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

A heavyweight Wimbledon semi-final awaits as defending champion Jannik Sinner faces seven-time winner Novak Djokovic on Friday.

Djokovic continues to rewrite history, advancing to a record-extending 15th Wimbledon semi-final following his five-set and five-hour epic victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime. It was the longest Wimbledon quarter-final in history and also the longest match Djokovic has ever been involved in at The Championships, with the 39-year-old coming away with one of the most memorable wins of his career, six minutes before the Wimbledon curfew was about to hit.

Meanwhile, I think it's safe to say Sinner hasn't been operating at anywhere close to his best level at this tournament, which follows his shock second round defeat at Roland Garros, where he again struggled physically with the heat. Sinner needed five sets in his opening round against Miomir Kecmanovic and while he hasn't dropped a set since, he's been forced to four tiebreaks and hasn't looked entirely comfortable.

With temperatures predicted to hit around 31C on Friday, it will be interesting to see how Sinner handles the heat here. Djokovic has also got to be feeling heavy in the legs, but he's had two days off and his preparation is as meticulous as it gets, so I actually think he will be okay physically for this one.

Djokovic famously upset Sinner in the Australian Open semi-finals at the start of the year at odds as high as $11 - he was ultra-aggressive with his forehand on that night and also hit through the middle of the court, not giving Sinner any angles to work with. You'd have to suspect he'll try the same tactics here, but the World No. 1 should be ready for it on this occasion.

It's a tough one to call and I feel a lot depends on Sinner's physical conditions in this environment. If he's unbothered, you've got to back the Italian at this stage of their respective careers, but if Djokovic can extend it into a fifth, the Serbian will fancy his chances.

I'm going to play Over 3.5 sets as the best bet, with a smaller stake on Sinner prevailing in four. I don't think Djokovic's price of around $4.00 is quite big enough for me to pull the trigger on the upset.
  • Sinner has won 35 of his last 36 matches
  • Sinner has won his last 12 Wimbledon matches
  • Sinner has won five of his last six Grand Slam semi-finals
  • Djokovic has lost eight of his last 10 Grand Slam matches vs top two players
  • Djokovic has a 10-4 record in Wimbledon semi-finals, but lost to Sinner at this stage in 2025
  • Djokovic has seen Over 3.5 sets in nine of his last 11 Grand Slam matches

Sinner vs Djokovic Head To Head

Sinner leads 6-5. Djokovic won the opening three matches of this H2H before Sinner went on a five-match winning streak.

Djokovic then pulled off one of the biggest upsets (odds wise) in Grand Slam semi-final history, edging Sinner in five sets at the Australian Open at the start of the year.

Jannik Sinner Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 42-3
  • Wimbledon Record: 25-4
  • Current Ranking: No. 1
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 1 (2024)

Very interesting stage of the season for Sinner right now.

The Italian had a disappointing start to the year, losing that AO semi-final to Djokovic and also suffering a surprising loss to Jakub Mensik in Doha.

But Sinner flicked the switch and proceeded to go on a 30-match winning streak, which included completing the Golden Masters set, securing titles at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome.

However, Sinner's struggles in the heat came to a boiling point once again at the French Open as he succumbed to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round.

Opting to skip all Wimbledon lead-in events, Sinner was on the brink of elimination in his opening round, needing five sets to survive Miomir Kecmanovic.

It hasn't been smooth sailing since, even if Sinner hasn't dropped another set. The World No. 1 was stretched to two tiebreaks against Nuno Borges, was challenged at times by the diminutive Shintaro Mochizuki and his 7-5, 7-6(4), 6-3 victory over Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarter-finals was anything but routine.

Novak Djokovic Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 14-4
  • Wimbledon Record: 107-13
  • Current Ranking: No. 8
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 1 (2011)

Djokovic has become increasingly selective with his schedule, structuring his season around the Grand Slams as he chases a record-extending 25th major title. With his extraordinary history at Wimbledon, there is a strong case that SW19 represents his best remaining opportunity to achieve that milestone.

The Serbian owns a phenomenal 107-13 record at the All England Club and has won 49 of his last 52 matches at the tournament, underlining why grass remains his most productive surface at this stage of his career.

This is only Djokovic's fifth event of the season. He reached the Australian Open final before exiting in the fourth round at Indian Wells, suffering a shock opening-round defeat in Rome and falling to Joao Fonseca in five sets at Roland Garros.

His Wimbledon campaign has been anything but straightforward. Djokovic cruised past Stefanos Tsitsipas, but he required four sets to get the better of Arthur Rinderknech, Wu Yibing and Roman Safiullin.

The 39-year-old was then involved in the longest Wimbledon quarter-final of all time as he eventually tamed third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(10-4) in five hours & 15 minutes.

Verdict

Can't see either player winning this in straights, so Over 3.5 sets is the best bet, with Sinner prevailing in four.
