Crystal Palace and Man City are both adapting to new managers, with neither looking fully convincing in their season openers. While City edged Bournemouth 2-1, Palace were unlucky versus Everton. Over 2.5 goals has landed in recent meetings, making it the top tip again. A draw offers value as both teams are finding their rhythm. Player props back Phil Foden and Marc Guehi for strong individual performances.

Crystal Palace vs Man City Premier League Tips & Prediction

Both teams are in a transitional period under new managers and were unconvincing in their season openers - I'm backing Over 2.5 goals with some value on a draw at Selhurst Park on Friday night, with Phil Foden and former Palace defender Marc Guehi the two player prop plays.

Enzo Maresca's first competitive game in charge of Man City wasn't too flash, with players out of position and being forced to come from behind to edge out Bournemouth at home. However, in saying that, the Cherries were holding the longest unbeaten streak in Europe's top five leagues (18), so digging out a gritty 2-1 victory was a solid opening result all things considered.

Palace meanwhile could count themselves unlucky for not coming away with a positive result in Pierre Sage's first Premier League game, going down 2-0 on the road to Everton despite leading the xG 1.96 to 1.12, wasting multiple big chances.

So it's still pretty early to get an accurate read on both sides, who are still trying to finalise their squads before the transfer window shuts in a few days.

I do like Over 2.5 goals as the best bet. The last six EPL meetings between the teams have seen 3+ goals and obviously City could land this bet on their own having won the last two encounters by 3-0 scores. But I like the value on a draw - as I said, it's still early days and I didn't see enough from City last week to suggest they can run rampant here.

Phil Foden has a point to prove this season and looked in decent touch last week, while Marc Guehi is playing in a more advanced role at the moment and will be eager to impress once more against his former club.
  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in the last six EPL meetings
  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of City's last 10 games
  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in eight of Palace's last 10 games
  • Two of the last five meetings at Selhurst Park have ended in a draw
  • City managed just two wins in their final five league games last season
  • Phil Foden scored at Selhurst Park last season
  • Marc Guehi scored vs Bournemouth last week & had two shots vs Palace last season

Crystal Palace vs Man City Head To Head

City have a 41-18 lead over Palace in the H2H, along with 17 draws. The Cityzens have won the last three Premier League encounters, scoring 3+ goals in all three.

Crystal Palace Form Analysis

New head coach Pierre Sage has a lot to live up to after Oliver Glasner led Palace to two trophies in the FA Cup and Europa League across the last two campaigns.

It's unfair to expect the ex-Lens boss to emulate those feats, but Palace fans will be expecting another successful season, so the pressure is on.

It wasn't the brightest of starts in the Premier League last week, with Palace falling 2-0 to Everton on the road - however, they created four big chances and if they were more efficient in front of goal, the story could have been different.

Crystal Palace Team News

Ismaila Sarr could be on his way out of Palace and is still nursing a groin injury.

Chadi Riad is sidelined with a knee injury, so Jaydee Canvot, Chris Richards and Takehiro Tomiyasu should spearhead the defence.

Crystal Palace Possible Starting XI (3-4-2-1): Dean Henderson; Jaydee Canvot, Chris Richards, Axel Disasi; Daniel Munoz, Daichi Kamada, Adam Wharton, Tyrick Mitchell; Yeremy Pino, Eddie Nketiah; Jean-Philippe Mateta

Man City Form Analysis

As mentioned, City are in a big transitional period at the moment, with Pep Guardiola and key midfielder Rodri both departing.

It was a bit of a concerning start to the campaign as City were outplayed 3-0 by Arsenal in the Community Shield, but they managed to bounce back with a positive result in their Premier League opener.

City went behind in the opening half against Bournemouth, but rallied to register a 2-1 victory courtesy of late strikes to defenders Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol.

Star striker Erling Haaland had a disappointing opening performance, missing an absolute sitter in the first half and will want an improved showing here.

Man City Team News

Jeremy Doku remains sidelined with injury, so Phil Foden, Nico O'Reilly and Antoine Semenyo could operate in attack alongside Haaland.

Rayan Cherki made a huge impact off the bench last week and could possibly feature from the start after bagging two assists.

Possible Man City Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Ruben Dias, Joskov Gvardiol; Elliot Anderson, Marc Guehi; Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, Antoine Semenyo; Erling Haaland

Verdict

Over 2.5 goals is the best bet, with some value on a share of the spoils. Foden & Guehi backed in player props.
