There’s plenty to like about the son of Farnan, who has demonstrated improvement with racing since debuting with a seventh here at the end of January.

The gelding was beaten six-and-a-half lengths after jumping at $18 from barrier nine in a 1000m maiden on that occasion.

He began awkwardly and was ridden cold before keeping on without ever looking likely to be involved in the finish.

Tony Gollan’s runner took a step forward when racing prominently before finishing fourth, beaten two-and-a-half lengths, when apprentice-ridden and stepped up to 1200m at the Gold Coast.

That form has held up strongly, and after a further improvement at Doomben, Elnajeeb looks capable of saluting with blinkers applied for the first time.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 5 No. 8 Rock The Sunrise

The son of Fastnet Rock has shown a liking for this venue, including two placings here last preparation.

He was spelled following a third-place finish here in October and has returned with two solid efforts over shorter trips this campaign.

The gelding resumed with a fourth at the Gold Coast, beaten less than two lengths, after jumping from near the inside.

Rock The Sunrise backed that up with a third over 1350m at Warwick, where the form has since been franked by the runner-up winning.

The extra distance suits here, and with a wet track expected, he looks well placed given his strong soft-track record.

XXXX Gold Fillies and Mares Benchmark 65 Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 6 No. 13 Swanfels

Desleigh Forster’s representative has made just three starts to date, including an eighth placing on debut here in January.

The three-year-old raced over 1400m that day and showed improvement when winning at Warwick next start.

That victory came over 1350m on a Soft 5 surface, where Swanfels overcame a wide draw to score narrowly.

She raced prominently again when finishing second at Gatton, despite over-racing through the early and middle stages.

The drop in distance suits, and with race fitness on her side, she can improve again at odds in this grade.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 10 Quickzou

The gelding showed ability last preparation and broke through for his maiden win at this venue second-up.

The son of Zoustar settled forward from a wide barrier and scored by one-and-a-half lengths over 1200m.

That form has been boosted, with multiple runners from that race going on to win subsequently.

Quickzou has continued with positive tactics in his following runs, including a solid fourth on a wet track two weeks ago.

With improvement to come and a more favourable barrier this time, he looks capable of going on with it.
