St Kilda Saints vs Greater Western Sydney Giants, Round 14 2026 - Expert Prediction

St Kilda -3.5, Saints over 93.5 team total, Liam Ryan 2+ goals and Max Hall 25+ Disposals are the four plays for Sunday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.

The Footy Bets predictive modelling of this game supports the Saints, but it's not a large lean. Nasaiah Wanganeen-Milera returned against Sydney lasty week and was electric with 18 Disposals and 421 metres gained in just the first half before finishing the game as one of the Saints' best. Jack Sinclair drove hard with 31 Disposals, Tom De Koning was influential and Jack Silvagni provided genuine presence inside 50 with three goals.

St Kilda looked like a different team with their personnel back and they pushed Sydney who are the competition's second-best side, to a two-point game before a sucker punch on the siren. GWS are in form but their last five games have swung wildly, producing wins of 49 and 78 pts alongside losses of 17 and 20 pts. Their overall rating of +1.4 barely separates them from the Saints' +1.7.

The Saints over 93.5 is the sharper play. They put up 102 against Sydney's defence, which is significantly better than GWS's. They generated 59 Inside 50s in that game against a market-high efficiency and their season average of 51.7 Inside 50s against GWS's 56.6 allowed tells you the ball will be there. GWS have been generous in defence, averaging 91.0 pts against over their last five games.

Ryan at 2+ goals has scored in every game he has played this season, eight from eight, and booted five against Sydney last week. GWS have allowed multiple goals to opposing forwards throughout the season and Ryan's contested marking ability is a direct mismatch against their backline. Hall at 25+ Disposals is the multi anchor, he has averaged 25 over his last six games and been one of the Saints' most consistent ball-winners all season.

Take St Kilda -3.5, Saints over 93.5, Liam Ryan 2+ goals and Max Hall 25+ Disposals.

  • St Kilda pushed Sydney to within two points on Sunday before losing on the siren with Wanganeen-Milera back, Sinclair accumulating 31 Disposals and De Koning and Silvagni both influential.
  • The Saints scored 102 pts against Sydney's defence and generated 59 Inside 50s, GWS allow 91.0 pts per game to opponents over their last five.
  • Liam Ryan has scored in all eight games he has played this season including five against Sydney last week.
  • Max Hall has averaged 25 Disposals over his last six games and has been the Saints' most consistent ball-winner through the midfield all season.

Head to Head Stats

The series is locked 5-5 in the last 10 meetings with St Kilda holding a 3-2 advantage at Marvel Stadium. The last five clashes have gone 4 pts, 11 pts, 28 pts, 1 pt and 12 pts, averaging just under 11 pts per game. The most recent result was a St Kilda 4 pt win in Round 2 2026, with GWS winning three of the five prior.

St Kilda Saints Form Analysis

St Kilda were magnificent for three quarters against Sydney and led for most of the match before Jai Serong broke their hearts with a match-winning goal in the final minute. Liam Ryan was unstoppable with five goals including a spectacular mark over Brodie Grundy, Wanganeen-Milera returned with 34 Disposals and Jack Sinclair drove hard with 31. The Saints led by as many as 33 points in the second quarter and outplayed the Swans across the Clearances count 44-34.

The injury toll is a concern. Sam Flanders is already out for the season with an Achilles but Rowan Marshall has been named despite a niggling leg injury. The Flanders loss in the midfield is still being felt but the return of Wanganeen-Milera has added a dimension that makes this a different St Kilda than the one that was blitzed by Hawthorn a fortnight ago.

Greater Western Sydney Giants Form Analysis

GWS come in off their bye riding serious momentum from back-to-back wins over Brisbane and Melbourne. The 78 pt win over the Lions featured a record-shattering 14-goal third quarter and the 49 pt win in Alice Springs was a disciplined, structured performance with Finn Callaghan and Clayton Oliver controlling proceedings. They have won four of their last five to climb back into the wildcard picture.

The injury list is the concern. Stephen Coniglio sat out the second half against Melbourne with hamstring awareness and has been left out this week. Jesse Hogan returns from a hip injury but Jake Riccardi is still out with an ankle. Lachie Whitfield also missed games earlier in the season. The depth has been tested but Callaghan, Oliver, Ash and Greene have carried the load. Toby Greene is the danger man inside 50 with four and five goals in the last two head-to-head meetings.
