Richmond Tigers vs Brisbane Lions AFL Round 14 Tips - Lions too good for Tigers but question marks remain

The Brisbane Lions are tipped to overcome the Richmond Tigers in Round 14, 2026, building on the momentum from their recent victory over the Gold Coast. Richmond faces challenges with a lengthy injury list and inexperienced players, making it difficult to match Brisbane's midfield strength and scoring potential. Key players like Lachie Neale and Charlie Cameron are expected to dominate, while Richmond’s Hopper and Short will likely gather plenty of possessions. Despite some competitive spirit, Brisbane’s class should secure them the win. Player props markets are recommended for bettors due to unpredictable margins.

Richmond Tigers vs Brisbane Lions, Round 14 2026 - Expert Prediction

Brisbane will advance to an 8-6 win-loss record in a game where the margin is tough to predict, given the premiers fluctuating form, as well as both sides hefty injury lists.

The Lions bounced back from three losses with a win over Gold Coast last weekend, while Richmond had the week off due to the bye. The Tigers were decimated to the tune of 114 points by Sydney prior to that and have more than 13 players unavailable due to injury- not ideal for their young squad.

Brisbane's pressure and ball movement looked much closer to premiership level against Gold Coast, with the Lions forcing turnovers in dangerous areas and transitioning the ball quickly once they won possession. Lachie Neale clocked up 37 disposals and 10 clearances, while Josh Dunkley rediscovered his best form around the contest.

That midfield advantage should again be significant against a Richmond side that has struggled to contain quality opposition and remains severely undermanned due to injury. The Tigers have shown plenty of fight at times this season, but their lack of experience and depth has been exposed against the competition's better sides.

Charlie Cameron looms as one of the biggest threats in the forward half after hitting the scoreboard last week, while Logan Morris arrives with confidence sky-high after his seven-goal haul against the Suns. Richmond's depleted defence will need to withstand plenty of pressure from a Brisbane side that generated over 100 points despite leaving opportunities on the table last weekend.

Jacob Hopper and Jayden Short should continue to accumulate possessions for the Tigers, particularly if Brisbane control territory and force Richmond into a defensive game style. Hopper battled hard in the heavy loss to Sydney, while Short remains one of the Tigers' primary distributors from defence.

Ultimately, Brisbane should have too much class across every line. The Lions look capable of controlling the contest through the midfield and generating repeat inside 50s, but given their tendency to fluctuate from week to week and Richmond's ability to scrap and compete for periods, the safest approach is to focus on player markets rather than the line.

Expect Brisbane to bank the four points, with Neale again finding plenty of the football and Charlie Cameron providing his usual spark around goal, while Hopper and Short should be busy in a losing cause for Richmond.

  • Lachie Neale had 42 disposals in his most recent match against Richmond
  • Charlie Cameron has booted 17 goals in his past six matches against the Lions
  • Jayden Short is averaging 25 disposals this season
  • Jacob Hopper reached the 30+ disposals the last time he played Brisbane

Head to Head Stats

Brisbane have won the past four between the two sides and it was a 28-point margin the last time the two sides met, which was way back in Round 4 last season.

Standout player performances in recent head to heads have come from;
  • Lachie Neale (Lions)- 42 disposals in his most recent outing against the Tigers and 35+ in three of his past four, with 34 in the other
  • Jacob Hopper (Tigers)- 32 disposals the last time he faced the Lions.,
  • Charlie Cameron (Lions)- 17 goals from his past six matches against Richmond, hitting the 2+ in all of those

Richmond Tigers Form Analysis

Richmond have won two matches this season with both of those coming in their last five matches- an 11 point win over West Coast in Round 8 as well as an 18-point triumph against Essendon in Round 11.

However, they were given a brutal reality check by Sydney in their most recent outing, going down by 114 at the SCG and have the bye since then to lick their wounds.

The Tigers continue to show strong effort through their younger players but are struggling to maintain intensity and execution across four quarters against quality opposition. Their injury-hit list has forced inexperienced players into major roles and they have often been overrun late in games.

Opportunities up forward have been limited with Richmond averaging just 66 points per game in 2026. Seth Campbell and Steely Green lead the goalkicking tally with 12 majors from as many matches. Jayden Short is Richmond’s leading disposals winner, going at a tick under 25 per game.

Brisbane Lions Form Analysis

Brisbane bounced back last weekend with a 31-point win over the Gold Coast Suns, snapping a three match losing streak that saw them suffer losses to Fremantle, Geelong and GWS.

They closed off well against the ladder leaders, Fremantle, a fortnight ago by kicking four of the last five goals and had the same amount of scoring shots in that match 10.18 to 15.13 scoreline, before bringing that momentum to the Suns match

Logan Morris responded to a quiet run with seven goals, while Lachie Neale continued his solid season with 37 disposals. Neale has had 30+ in six of his past nine, while rebounding halfback, Darcy Wilmot, has had 25+ in his past four. Brisbane enter the Round 14 clash with a win-loss record of 7-6
