A fillies and mares weight-for-age event run over 1400m at Eagle Farm, the Tattersall's Tiara is the final Group 1 of the Australian racing season.

After an unlucky return in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at Randwick, Splash Back recorded a strong second-up victory in the Group 2 Victory Stakes on May 2.

While she didn't threaten in either the Kingsford-Smith Cup or Stradbroke Handicap, both performances were competitive, and she's back against her own sex for this assignment.

The Graeme Begg-trained mare remains at 1400m for the 2026 Tattersall's Tiara, where she's the $4.40 favourite with Ladbrokes.

Gerringong ($5) resumed with a runner-up finish behind the in-form She's Got Pizzazz in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes on June 13.

Although she's yet to win since her second career start, the four-year-old has recorded six placings at stakes level, and that latest resumption effort was encouraging.

Manaal ($6) tasted Group 1 success as a two-year-old when taking out the Inglis Sires', and she has been largely consistent throughout her three- and four-year-old campaigns.

The daughter of Tassort is a six-time Group winner, and she resumed with a third-place finish in the Morton Cup on June 6.

Rounding out the single-figure chances is Abounding ($7), who failed in the Stradbroke Handicap but won the BRC Sprint prior to that.

There were excuses for her latest performance on a testing Heavy 9 surface, with the Robert Heathcote-trained galloper clearly more effective on firmer ground.

Tattersall's Tiara Winners

The Tattersall's Tiara was first run in 1989 and is a relatively recent addition to the Queensland racing calendar, especially when compared to many of the state's other major races, which date back much further.

The race was run over 1500m for much of its history before being shortened to 1400m in 2007.

A fillies and mares event conducted under weight-for-age conditions, the Tattersall's Tiara is the final Group 1 race of the Australian racing season, with the first Group 1 of the new season contested in late August.

Palaisipan (2023), Bella Nipotina (2024) and Tashi (2025) have won the last three editions of the Tattersall's Tiara.
