A fillies and mares weight-for-age event run over 1400m at Eagle Farm, the Tattersall's Tiara is the final Group 1 of the Australian racing season.

It could well be the swansong of Fangirl, with the rising eight-year-old a $2.50 favourite with Ladbrokes to win the 2026 edition.

The four-time Group 1 winner caught the eye when finishing third in the Kingsford-Smith Cup second-up following a freshen-up, and she has accepted for the Stradbroke Handicap en route to this feature.

Splash Back ($5) is also set to contest the Stradbroke Handicap, with the mare returning to winning form in Brisbane when taking out the Group 2 Victory Stakes on May 2.

That followed an unlucky Randwick resumption and, third-up, the Graham Begg-trained galloper finished ninth of 16 in the Kingsford-Smith Cup.

Abounding ($6) is the pick of the local hopes in early markets, with the four-time stakes winner last seen taking out the Group 3 BRC Sprint at Doomben on May 23.

She has contested the last two editions of the Tattersall's Tiara, with a fourth-place finish in 2024 before a runner-up finish in last year's renewal.

Within The Law ($8) has been a consistent performer throughout her two and three-year-old seasons and, after excuses in her Group 3 resumption in Sydney, she was strong late when finishing third in the Group 3 Fred Best Classic on May 30.

Tattersall's Tiara Winners

The Tattersall's Tiara was first run in 1989 and is a relatively recent addition to the Queensland racing calendar, especially when compared to many of the state's other major races, which date back much further.

The race was run over 1500m for much of its history before being shortened to 1400m in 2007.

A fillies and mares event conducted under weight-for-age conditions, the Tattersall's Tiara is the final Group 1 race of the Australian racing season, with the first Group 1 of the new season contested in late August.

Palaisipan (2023), Bella Nipotina (2024) and Tashi (2025) have won the last three editions of the Tattersall's Tiara.
