The Tattersall's Tiara is the final Group 1 race of the Australian racing season, with the fillies and mares weight-for-age contest run over 1400m at Eagle Farm.

Splash Back (barrier 6) returned with little luck in the Sapphire Stakes at Randwick before bouncing back with a strong second-up win in the Group 2 Victory Stakes on May 2.

She hasn't been disgraced in the Kingsford-Smith Cup or Stradbroke Handicap since and is back against her own sex here.

Gerringong (barrier 13) resumed with a sound runner-up finish behind the in-form She's Got Pizzazz in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes on June 13.

While the four-year-old is yet to add to her winning tally since opening her career with back-to-back victories, she has consistently performed at stakes level, recording six placings in black-type company.

Manaal (barrier 9) announced herself as a top-class filly when winning the Inglis Sires' as a two-year-old and has continued to compete well in strong company since.

A six-time Group race winner, the daughter of Tassort returned with an encouraging third in the Morton Cup on June 6.

Abounding (barrier 17) heads into this off a disappointing Stradbroke Handicap performance, although she had been in excellent form beforehand, highlighted by her BRC Sprint victory.

The Heavy 9 conditions last start were against her, and she is expected to be far more effective if she strikes a firmer surface here.

Melody Again (barrier 11) has produced eye-catching finishes at her past two appearances, including a closing fourth in last Saturday's Listed Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich.

Prior to that, she made ground strongly in the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic won by Tuileries (barrier 3), a mare who has won two of her last three starts and took out a tick-over trial at Rosehill on June 5.

With a strong return in the Fred Best Classic followed by a runner-up finish, albeit a well-held second on June 13, Within The Law (barrier 10) could be working towards a peak performance now third-up.

Tattersall's Tiara Winners

The Tattersall's Tiara was first run in 1989 and is one of the newer features on the Queensland racing calendar, particularly when compared to many of the state's long-established major races.

The race was contested over 1500m for much of its history before being reduced to 1400m in 2007.

Run under weight-for-age conditions for fillies and mares, the Tattersall's Tiara serves as the final Group 1 race of the Australian racing season, with the new campaign's opening Group 1 held in late August.

Palaisipan (2023), Bella Nipotina (2024) and Tashi (2025) are the most recent winners of the Tattersall's Tiara.
