Rosehill Tips June 13
TAB Highway Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Rosehill Value Bet - Race 3 No. 10 Hollywood Gold
It was a disappointing resumption at Muswellbrook, where Hollywood Gold covered ground after being sent forward and never really settled off the speed.
The subsequent efforts have been encouraging, including a sixth-of-11 finish at Tamworth on April 24 in a race that has already produced three subsequent winners.
The son of Casino Prince improved again when fifth-of-12 at Quirindi on May 11, where he was crowded and blocked for a run at the 100m and should have finished closer.
He has since bolted in with a tick-over trial on June 6, suggesting he remains in good order.
The rise in trip suits now deeper into the preparation and, with Shannen Llewellyn's claim helping him get right down in the weights, he looks over the odds.
RJ Partner Award Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Rosehill Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Royal Flare
Although it was only a half-length victory as a short-priced favourite at Caulfield Heath first-up, there is still improvement to come from Royal Flare.
The Victorian possesses above-average ability and this does not look a vintage Sydney assignment.
The slight drop back in trip early in the preparation is no major concern after resuming over 1200m, while he had also accepted for a 1000m event the week prior.
It was hard not to be impressed by his debut Ballarat victory earlier in the season when accounting comfortably for useful types Cooly and Pasadena before just missing in a strong Class 3 on Ballarat Cup Day.
Regan Bayliss takes the reins and, from a favourable draw, there is every chance he can settle prominently and prove hard to run down.
Racing And Sports Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Rosehill Best Bet - Race 7 No. 16 Big Papa
We are happy to give Big Papa another chance here after a pass-mark first-up effort on May 30.
Off strong trial work, the three-year-old was heavily backed over 1100m, a distance that ultimately proved a little sharp.
The gelding was shuffled further back than ideal, remained pocketed around the turn and did not appear to relish the heavy conditions.
There was still enough merit in the run to suggest he can improve sharply second-up.
The rise in distance is a positive, he drops sharply in the weights and, with Alysha Collett expected to be positive from the outset, Big Papa looks the runner with the most upside in this Benchmark 78.
The Queen Elizabeth II Cup Tips (Race 8)
Rosehill Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 9 Brave Call
This year's Queen Elizabeth II Cup is a tricky race to assess, with several genuine winning chances engaged.
Thebudgiesmugla heads the market and should appreciate getting back up to 2400m, although he appears short enough after an even effort in the Lord Mayor's Cup.
Portland won that race and now rises sharply in the weights, while Black Run may be the runner with the most improvement to come from the form line.
Brave Call is among those at each-way odds and the Kris Lees-trained galloper was fair first-up at Warwick Farm before racing second-up at Randwick on May 23 after six weeks between runs.
Still lightly raced despite being a rising six-year-old, he completed a winning double at the end of his previous preparation, including his only attempt at this distance, and looks capable of measuring up in the Listed feature.
Shift4 Sydney Sweep Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Rosehill Favourite - Race 9 No. 9 Swiftie Harriet
Another interstate visitor finding a suitable Sydney assignment on Saturday is Swiftie Harriet.
She should have won at Flemington on May 16 after being badly held up before charging home late.
The four-year-old from the Travis Doudle stable opened her campaign with a Morphettville victory on April 11 before contesting stronger company.
Her Group 3 efforts were much better than they appear on paper, recording the third-fastest last 200m of the John Hawkes Stakes before producing the second-fastest final 200m of the Proud Miss Stakes on Goodwood Day.
The slight drop back in trip is no concern, she handles all conditions and carries 3kg less than last start, although she will require some luck from the back half of the field given her racing pattern.
