Tron Bolt is a well-bred juvenile, being by Toronado and the first foal out of Baccarat Baby, a Group 3 winner over this trip, while Baccarat Baby is a half-sister to Duais, a three-time Group 1 winner.

This youngster has improved since a third-place finish on debut at Kembla Grange, recording a dominant victory over 1400m at Randwick Kensington before being equally impressive at Rosehill on March 30.

At $2.10 with EliteBet, Tron Bolt is favourite to win the 2026 JJ Atkins, while Stormy Marco ($4.60) sits on the second line of betting.

The son of Wootton Bassett is another Chris Waller-trained contender prominent in the market, with the Hawkesbury debut winner finishing midfield at his second start in the Group 2 Sires' Produce Stakes on May 30.

Martist ($8) flashed home for third in that Group 2 feature, having also caught the eye from the rear in the Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic on May 16, and he appears suited by the rise to a mile.

Berzelius ($9) has won two of his three starts, including the Group 2 Sires' Produce Stakes at big odds when stepping up to 1400m for the first time.

Kickup Rocky caught the eye from the back of the field in that same feature, with the gelding having won his previous start at Eagle Farm after a runner-up finish at Doomben on return.

He shares an $11 quote with Vantorix, a Jenny Graham-trained galloper who won his first three starts, including the Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic, before finishing runner-up in the Sires' Produce Stakes.

Cormier and Voynichese are both rated $13 chances, with the latter an impressive debut winner before finishing runner-up to Tron Bolt at Rosehill.

Voynichese handled the rise from an Albury maiden when taking out The Show A Heart on June 6.

JJ Atkins Winners

The JJ Atkins was first run in 1893 and has been won by some of the great names in Australian racing history, including Mahogany, Luskin Star and, more recently, The Autumn Sun.

Run during the Brisbane Winter Carnival, the Group 1 feature is regarded as Queensland’s premier race for two-year-olds and has regularly produced future stars of the Australian turf.

The race has been conducted over a variety of distances throughout its history, including 1200m and 1400m, although since 1973 it has primarily been contested over 1600m.

A number of elite performers have used the JJ Atkins as a launching pad for future Group 1 success, adding further prestige to the long-running juvenile feature.

King Colorado (2023), Broadsiding (2024) and Cool Archie (2025) have won the past three editions of the JJ Atkins.
