Brazil vs Morocco Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Brazil to edge blockbuster Group C encounter

Brazil face Morocco in a standout World Cup group phase match at MetLife Stadium. Brazil, guided by Carlo Ancelotti, are backed as slight favorites due to their historic Cup record and recent resurgent form, despite Neymar's absence. Morocco, fresh off a fourth-place World Cup finish and African title, remain defensively solid with an unbeaten streak, though questions linger after a managerial change. The game is predicted to be tight: Brazil to win, but Morocco are tipped to keep a first-half clean sheet. Raphinha is a top contender for an anytime goalscorer bet.

Brazil vs Morocco Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

One of the most eye-catching early games in the group phase pits five-time champions Brazil up against breakout 2022 stars Morocco at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.

No nation has played or won more World Cup games than Brazil, but they've only made it past the quarter-finals once since lifting their last trophy in 2002. The Selecao triumphed the last time the World Cup was held in the United States in 1994 and with master coach Carlo Ancelotti taking charge, I think Brazil are a good bet and great odds in the outright winner market.

Morocco meanwhile have emerged as a powerhouse nation over the last decade, finishing fourth at the 2022 World Cup and recently being crowned African champions - albeit in controversial circumstances. In any case, Morocco have lost just two of their last 45 games, but I am a bit concerned with their managerial change after Walid Regragui resigned less than 100 days before the start of the World Cup and was replaced by Mohamed Ouahbi.

It promises to be a cracking contest and I give the slight edge to Brazil. However, the Selecao haven't kept a clean sheet in their last five games, so both teams to score appeals. Morocco keeping a clean sheet in the first half also looks a good prop play given their remarkable defensive record in that regard lately. It's hard to say at this stage if Igor Thiago will lead the line for Brazil, so I like Barcelona winger Raphinha as the best bet for anytime goalscorer.
  • Brazil have won their last three games by a combined 11-4 score
  • Brazil are unbeaten in their 20 World Cup openers, winning 17
  • Morocco are winless in their last six World Cup openers
  • Morocco have kept a clean sheet in the first half of their last 24 games
  • Brazil have seen BTTS in their last five games
  • Morocco have scored 1+ goal in 16 of their last 17 games
  • Raphinha was top scorer for Brazil with five goals during World Cup qualifying & scored 13 goals in 22 La Liga games for Barcelona this season

Brazil vs Morocco Head To Head

Brazil eased past Morocco 3-0 in the group stage of the 1998 World Cup, but the African champions emerged victorious 2-1 in their most-recent clash in a 2023 friendly.

Brazil Form Analysis

Brazil remain the most dominant team in World Cup history and are the only nation to have qualified for every single tournament, winning the trophy on five occasions.

However, this qualifying campaign was anything but comfortable, with Brazil only just scraping into the direct spots over the last few matchdays, with Carlo Ancelotti stepping in as saviour. Ancelotti is the first manager born on foreign soil to lead Brazil at a World Cup.

After some tough results, Brazil have rounded into form ahead of the World Cup, beating Croatia 3-1 and Panama 6-2 before a 2-1 victory over Egypt last week.

Brazil Team News

All-time top scorer Neymar is still recovering from a calf injury and is unlikely to feature in the group stage.

Marquinhos and Gabriel form a formidable central defensive pairing, while Raphinha and Vinicius Jr will start on the flanks. Only Erling Haaland scored more Premier League goals this past season than Igor Thiago, but Ancelotti might decide to start Man United's Matheus Cunha up front.

Morocco Form Analysis

Morocco became the first African nation in history to reach the World Cup semi-finals at Qatar 2022 and they've continued their strong form as they look to emulate that run in North America.

The Atlas Lions are unbeaten in 43 of their last 45 games and qualified for this World Cup by winning all eight of their games.

However, there's been some controversy - Morocco were awarded the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil after initially going down to Senegal, while manager Walid Regragui resigned not long after.

Morocco have regrouped, beating Paraguay in a friendly before a recent 1-1 draw with Norway.

Morocco Team News

Captain Achraf Hakimi and forward Brahim Diaz are the two stars of this Moroccan side, with the latter scoring 14 goals in 26 games for the national side, including a bunch at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nayef Aguerd and Abde Ezzalzouli will both miss the World Cup due to injury and have been replaced in the squad by Marwane Saadane and Amine Sbai.
