Wangaratta Betting Tips for June 14, 2026 - Run, Forrest, Run

Wangaratta hosts an eight-race card on June 14, split evenly between Maiden and Benchmark 62 events. With heavy track conditions (potential downgrade expected), punters should note horses proven on rain-affected ground. Key selections include Call Me Rhonda (Race 5), Asiatic (Race 7), Forrest Gump (Race 2), and Naughton's Bar (Race 4), all of whom have shown the ability to perform on heavy going. The main recommendation is to look for value among horses with a proven wet-track record.

Wangaratta hosts an eight-race program on Sunday with an even split of four Maiden races and four Benchmark 62 events.

The track is currently a Heavy 9 however, with rain forecast there is a strong chance of a track downgrade.

WTC Seniors Raceday – 4th July Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Wangaratta Value Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Forrest Gump

Three starts in 2024 produced three top-three finishes for Forrest Gump.

The most recent of those efforts saw him lose out by a narrow margin when runner-up to a subsequent metropolitan winner over 1600m at Scone in August 2024.

While that effort came on a sound surface, his first two appearances were on Soft ground, and he has since joined the Gerald Egan stable.

The four-year-old showed up well in a pair of jumpouts last month, including a 1200m win at this venue in the second of those.

The gelding is a half-brother to Heavy-track winner Frankly Elegant and, from an inside barrier, looks capable of resuming with a victory.

Wangaratta Roughie - Race 4 No. 5 Naughton's Bar

The form may not jump off the page, but Naughton's Bar has been racing better than his record suggests this preparation.

His lone placing came when beaten just over one-and-a-half lengths over 1600m at Goulburn last month.

Racing on a Good 4 surface, he finished strongly in an 11-runner field and had excuses when seventh at Wagga next time.

The three-year-old was shuffled back at a crucial stage on that occasion before catching the eye late in the race.

A Heavy 9 surface appeared no issue when beaten less than four-and-a-half lengths that day, and the rise in distance looks a positive despite a wide draw.

Wangaratta Best Bet - Race 5 No. 14 Call Me Rhonda

Forecast conditions look ideal for this assignment, with Call Me Rhonda already proving herself on rain-affected ground.

The four-year-old broke through for her maiden victory when saluting by just under half a length over 1600m at Stawell last month.

Racing on a Heavy 8 surface, the mare came from midfield and finished strongly to score at her 11th start.

The rise in distance poses no issue, having finished second in both previous attempts over 2000m or further.

Jarrod Robinson's representative returns to a forecast Heavy track and looks capable of handling the rise in grade from an inside barrier.

Wangaratta Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Asiatic

Fresh form reads well for this assignment, with Asiatic returning from a break after contesting stronger company over summer.

The three-year-old has performed well first-up in the past, including when breaking her maiden over 1203m at Kyneton in November.

The filly won on a Heavy 8 surface that day but has also scored on Good ground, highlighting her versatility.

The daughter of Tagaloa was slowly away in both victories before being ridden patiently and finishing strongly.

The drop in grade is a positive here, and with Jake Noonan taking the ride following a Cranbourne jumpout win, similar tactics are expected.
