The world’s richest turf race takes centre stage at Randwick this Saturday, with the 2025 edition of The Everest shaping as one of the most anticipated in the event’s brief but spectacular history.

A $20 million feature under weight-for-age conditions and over 1200m, The Everest brings together a blend of international speed and homegrown sprinting stars, with Hong Kong’s champion Ka Ying Rising adding global flavour to an already elite field.

Strong local representation again comes from Chris Waller’s powerful team, led by Lady Shenandoah and Joliestar, while Angel Capital adds further depth as a fresh wildcard. The stage is set for another high-class renewal of a race that continues to redefine Australian racing’s spring carnival.

The Everest 2025 Tips

The Everest 2025 Favourite - Ka Ying Rising

With the World Tote in operation, Ka Ying Rising is likely to start much shorter than his current quote ($1.80 @ Betr) as overseas money comes for the Hong Kong champion.

The five-year-old first tuned up in Australia with a close third in a Randwick 1000m trial on October 7, finishing just behind Linebacker and Overpass.

He needed that hit-out and has reportedly come on well since, settling nicely into his quarantine surroundings at Canterbury.

Gate seven looks close to perfect, giving Zac Purton the option to either lead or let Overpass roll forward, with that runner likely to be ridden urgently from barrier nine.
The Everest 2025 Best Bet - Lady Shenandoah

She resumed with a luckless narrow defeat in the Concorde Stakes before heading to the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley, where she had excuses in a race and on a circuit that didn’t suit.

Leading into that last assignment, Lady Shenandoah was the clear second pick in The Everest market, and she now looks a touch forgotten at double-figure odds.

An interstate trip early in the preparation can often bring a horse on mentally, and by all reports the four-year-old has returned to Sydney in excellent order.

Her only time missing the placings came via that Manikato run, having built an unbeaten streak of five through her three-year-old season.
The Everest 2025 Value Bet - Angel Capital

It’s a big challenge stepping up to weight-for-age level against elite sprinters, but Angel Capital shapes as the x-factor outsider of The Everest.

Following a slashing victory on stable debut for Chris Waller last month, he was then a good thing beaten when held up at key stages of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

He’s always been most effective when kept fresh, so the month between runs — combined with a quiet tick-over trial — looks an ideal lead-in to this grand final.

Damian Lane will be eager to atone, and his partnership with Chris Waller continues to deliver results — they’re striking at over 24% this season, highlighted by last Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas win with Autumn Boy.
