Team Hawkes prepared Ole Kirk to win the 2020 Golden Rose and they have Nepotism, who is from the same family as Ole Kirk.

The son of Brutal progressed off a debut third, with victories recorded at starts two and three, and that includes a Group 1 triumph in the Champagne Stakes.

He's set to follow a similar path to Ole Kirk, who won both the Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas as an early three-year-old (Ole Kirk opened that campaign with seconds in the Rosebud and Run To The Rose).

At $5 with Ladbrokes, Nepotism is favourite to win the 2025 Golden Rose.

Like Nepotism, Beadman also has two wins and a placing from three starts, and the Peter Snowden-trained colt was spelled after an 8.3-length romp in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial on May 10.

That Gold Coast form was franked when the runner-up (Sunrays) recorded a comfortable Listed win at her next appearance.

Beadman shares a $7 quote with Wodeton, a colt who was spelled following a fourth-place finish in the Group 1 Inglis Sires'.

Wodeton hasn't finished outside of the top four in five starts, while he was Group 1 placed when narrowly defeated as runner-up in the Golden Slipper.

The 2025 Golden Rose will be contested on Saturday, September 27.

Golden Rose Winners

First being run and won in 1978, this feature was originally known as the Peter Pan Stakes after the dual Melbourne Cup winner, but was renamed the Golden Rose after its grading was dropped from Group 2 to an 'Unlisted' affair despite a prize money increase to $1 million.

This 1400m major was upgraded to a Group 1 event in 2009 and since the promotion, it has become a stallion-making race, which is evident with recent winners that includes Zoustar, Exosphere, Trapeze Artist, The Autumn Sun and Ole Kirk who are all well in demand and popular in the current breeding climate.

Jacquinot (2022), Militarize (2023) and Broadsiding (2024) have won the last three editions of the Golden Rose.
