Autumn Boy ($4.80) shapes as a danger. The colt delivered two classy wins in June and, while staying at 1400m may be the slight query, his closing effort first-up on September 13 suggested he’s in for a strong spring.
Skyhook ($6) resumed with a sweeping victory in the Rosebud on August 16 and, although luckless in The Run To The Rose second-up, he should’ve finished closer. He remains firmly in the mix.

Golden Rose Winners
First run in 1978, this feature was originally known as the Peter Pan Stakes after the dual Melbourne Cup winner, before being renamed the Golden Rose when its grading was dropped from Group 2 to an unlisted race, despite prize money increasing to $1 million.
The 1400m contest was elevated to Group 1 status in 2009, and since then it has become a genuine stallion-making race. That is evident with recent winners such as Zoustar, Exosphere, Trapeze Artist, The Autumn Sun and Ole Kirk, all of whom are highly sought after in the breeding barn.
More recently, Jacquinot (2022), Militarize (2023) and Broadsiding (2024) have been the last three winners of the Golden Rose.
