Broadsiding (barrier 1) was arguably the leading two-year-old of last season, a Godolphin colt who has won his last four starts and two of those victories were at Group 1 level.

After a brilliant return triumph on June 1 via his Brisbane debut, the son of Too Darn Hot proved his good track credentials when bolting in with the Group 1 JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm and he'll contest the 2024 Golden Rose first-up off two September trials.

He's the leading Godolphin chance in the Golden Rose futures market and the 'Blue Army' have had success in this Group 1 over recent years, with Epaulette (2012), Exosphere (2015), Astern (2016) and Bivouac (2019) all past winners of this 1400m feature.

Traffic Warden (barrier 9) is another Godolphin contender and this three-year-old firmed in the Golden Rose market following a brilliant return win in the Run To The Rose.

While he's likely to come back in distance following this Group 1 attempt, the son of Street Boss was a 1400m winner last prep and he also placed over this trip when narrowly defeated in the Group 1 Inglis Sires'.

After an impressive return victory, Storm Boy (barrier 11) had to settle for third as an odds-on fav in the Run To The Rose and he did have excuses in that second-up performance, where the colt worked hard and tired late, with a slow getaway proving costly.

The Waterhouse & Bott yard have also accepted with Anode (barrier 10) and Mayfair (barrier 5).

Linebacker (barrier 7) caught the eye in the Run To The Rose when coming home from the rear to grab fourth and he'll be suited up to 1400m second-up (his last win came over this trip).

The 2024 Golden Rose will be run at Rosehill on Saturday, September 28 and 11 runners make up the final field for this three-year-old feature.

Golden Rose Winners

First being run and won in 1978, this feature was originally known as the Peter Pan Stakes after the dual Melbourne Cup winner, but was renamed the Golden Rose after its grading was dropped from Group 2 to an 'Unlisted' affair despite a prize money increase to $1 million.

This 1400m major was upgraded to a Group 1event in 2009 and since then has become a stallion making race which is evident with recent winners that includes Zoustar, Exosphere, Trapeze Artist, The Autumn Sun and Ole Kirk who are all well in demand and popular in the current breeding climate.

In The Congo (2021), Jacquinot (2022) and Militarize (2023) have won the last three editions of the Golden Rose.
