Angel Capital (barrier 8) was impressive via his Autumn Stakes resumption, where the Clinton McDonald-trained colt recorded a 1.5-length victory.
With Evaporate (third in the Autumn Stakes) then competitive at Group 1 WFA level in last Saturday's Futurity Stakes, his fresh form is starting to read well.
The son of Harry Angel has four wins from seven starts and this will be his second try at 1600m, with the previous mile attempt resulting in a sixth-place finish in last year's Caulfield Guineas.
Point And Shoot (barrier 1) heads to Melbourne following two strong wins at Randwick and the gelding ticked the 1600m box last start when successful in a BM78 against mostly older opposition.
He easily accounted for Puntin in his latest win, a stablemate who had won his first three starts leading into that February 8 clash.
The CS Hayes Stakes is a traditional lead-up to the Australian Guineas and eight runners have completed the CS Hayes Stakes/Australian Guineas double.
Sepals (barrier 3) completed a winning hat-trick in the CS Hayes Stakes on February 15 and it was a stylish performance, with the youngster saluting by 3.25-lengths.
While he was no match for the winner, Ndola (barrier 12) still made ground from the rear to finish second in the CS Hayes Stakes and he was a strong 1400m winner at Sandown in September prior to a spell.
The New Zealand-based Savaglee (barrier 6) has a handy record, with seven wins and three placings to his name, and five of his victories have been recorded this season.
Spelled after a Group 1 triumph on November 9, the son of Savabeel opened his 2025 account with a comfortable win on January 1 before a third in the Group 1 Waikato Sprint.
16 runners (plus two emergencies) make up the final field for the 2025 Australian Guineas.

Australian Guineas Winners
The Australian Guineas is Melbourne's premier three-year-old race of the autumn carnival, with this Group 1 contested over the mile at Flemington.
It's a relatively new race on the Australian calendar, gaining Group 1 status one year after its inception in 1986 and the race was known as the Australasian Guineas until 2004.
Despite its rather short history, The Australian Guineas has a strong honour roll, with Zabeel, Mahogany, Reset, Apache Cat, Miss Finland, Mystic Journey and Alligator Blood among the famous winners of this feature.
Hitotsu (2022), Legarto (2023) and Southport Tycoon (2024) have won the last three editions of the Australian Guineas.
