The Australasian Oaks is a Group 1 at Morphettville and this three-year-old fillies feature is one of the headline races on the opening day of the Adelaide Racing Carnival.

A decent field has been assembled for the 2025 edition, where a mixture of Sydney and Melbourne raiders clash with some locals over 2000m.

2025 Australasian Oaks Best Bet - Benagil

It was just an even return effort from Benagil, but she quickly progressed second-up to win the VOBIS Guineas at Caulfield, where she sustained a long run from off a slow speed.

That form has stood up through Athanatos, who bolted at Flemington via his next appearance before recording a runner-up finish as an odds-on fav in the Port Adelaide Guineas.

Benagil ran into a very smart Treasurethe Moment last time out when contesting the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes over this distance and she's completed a subsequent tick-over trial.

She put a decent margin on both Declichy Boulevard and Verona Rose (both handy) via that Sydney attempt, while Movin Out (third fav here) was well beaten in the same event.

2025 Australasian Oaks Next Best Bet - Horizons

This prep hasn't gone to plan for Horizons, who found nothing but trouble last time out when contesting the Auraria Stakes, which is the traditional lead-up to the Australasian Oaks.

She's by The Autumn Sun, who sired the trifecta in last year's Australasian Oaks and as a late three-year-old who is now deep into her third campaign, getting to 2000m is a positive.

The Sydney-based filly has had two looks at Morphettville and while 1600m proved a touch sharp via her Adelaide debut on March 29, that third-up effort was a pass mark.

With a winning city double at Morphettville on April 12 and three winners over the Oakbank Carnival, Todd Pannell is in decent touch and he'll be eager atone from the Auraria steer.

2025 Australasian Oaks Value Bet - Polymnia

She had her chance in the Adrian Knox Stakes when runner-up as a well-backed fav, however, it was another solid run from Polymnia and she did breakthrough the start prior.

That Sydney form should up here, with the Adrian Knox Stakes producing both second and third in the Australian Oaks, while Belle Detelle was also competitive in that 2400m feature.

While her winning strike-rate isn't flash, her only time out of the top four was a fifth-of-fourteen finish over 1200m last prep and she hasn't missed the quinella this campaign.

I suspect that 2000m is right at the top end of her range and with four runs completed this time in, including a ten furlong hit-out, Polymnia has the platform to be peaking here.
