Wimbledon Day 2 Tips, Predictions & Best Bets

We landed a solid 6/8 best bets on Day 1 and are back with more selections for Day 2, which you can find in the table below, with reasoning further down the page.

Shelton vs Virtanen Tips

  • Love this spot or Over 40.5 total games - Shelton has one of the best serves on tour, but his return game is decidedly average, in fact, he's ranked 68th this year on return
  • Virtanen has been winning tons of matches on grass this year, albeit on the Challenger Tour, making two finals, while he also qualified for Wimbledon - he's generated a lot of momentum and once took another American in Tommy Paul to five sets here
  • Shelton went five sets in R1 of Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024 and played two tiebreaks vs Bolt in R1 last year, while two of his last five matches on grass this year have seen a tiebreak in every set
  • I think Virtanen can snatch a set here and if so, this bet should land

Fery vs Dzumhur Tips

  • Dzumhur has been struggling all year with fitness issues, registering a poor 12-21 record and tumbling out of the top 100
  • Dzumhur hasn't won a match at Wimbledon since 2018 & has lost two of his three matches on grass this year
  • Fery has been building nicely - he beat Popyrin at Wimbledon last year and this is a much better draw
  • Fery has won six of his nine matches on grass this season, including making a quarter-final at Queens, where he took a set off eventual champion Cerundolo

Hanfmann vs Mpetshi Perricard Tips

  • It's the golden rule - back whoever holds more value in a Perricard match, especially on grass and in this case it's Hanfmann at $2.15
  • As in most of Perricard's matches, this will be a lottery and come down to some crucial points here and there, most likely in tiebreaks
  • The pressure is on Perricard - this is the stage of the season where he should be firing and his best chance to pick up points
  • Hanfmann's serve isn't that far behind Perricard's, but his return game is much better and he won the pair's only previous clash in Chengdu last year, which was also in fast conditions

Dimitrov vs Sweeny Tips

  • Sweeny had a bit of luck in qualifying, trailing Blanch 2-6 2-5 before the young American picked up an injury
  • The Aussie has never won a slam main draw match outside of Australia and is still plugging away on the Challenger Tour - and even there, he hasn't had too much success
  • Dimitrov obviously struggling, but he was maybe 20 mins away from beating Sinner here last year before injury struck - he's still a class player and I expect him to deal with this challenge fairly comfortably

Joint vs Serena Tips

  • Serena hasn't played a singles match since the 2022 US Open, the same season where she lost to Harmony Tan at Wimbledon
  • Serena may be the GOAT, but a few doubles matches isn't an adequate warm up for a return to Grand Slam singles play
  • This is actually probably one of the best draws Serena could have got - Joint has been in terrible form after battling injuries, winning just one of her last 14 matches at all levels
  • However, Joint is back to full fitness, just lacking some confidence at the moment - she will be up for this unique challenge and I think she rises to the occasion here

  • Badosa remains a huge question mark with her constant injury problems and has lost six of her 10 meetings with top 50 players this year
  • Navarro is back in form after her own health battles, winning 11 of her last 15 matches and beating Swiatek in Bad Homburg last week
  • Navarro has made at least the R16 in her last two Wimbledon appearances and should be too strong here

Marcinko vs Kenin Tips

  • Kenin continues to struggle and it's just been a huge fall from grace over the last few years
  • Kenin has lost eight of her last 10 matches coming into this clash, including three straight on grass
  • Marcinko has been rising nicely over the last couple of months, winning her maiden WTA title in Rabat and recently making the Eastbourne semi-finals
  • The Croatian did retire injured vs Keys in that match, but it looks like it was just precautionary - if Marcinko is healthy, she should be winning this one on current form

Moutet vs Giron Tips

  • Both players woefully out of form, but Giron is (by far) the more level headed of the pair and has at least been more competitive lately
  • Giron has at least won three of his last eight matches and won a set in four of his last five defeats
  • Moutet meanwhile has lost eight of his last nine matches, with seven of those defeats coming in straight sets - including against a basically-retired Kyrgios on grass
  • Giron won the last meeting between the pair in March this year and looks better positioned to come out on top here

Wimbledon Day 2 Multi

  • Shelton vs Virtanen: Shelton Win @ $1.25
  • Michelsen vs Fearnley: Michelsen Win @ $1.72

  • Jacquet vs Gaubas: Jacquet Win @ $1.42

  • Dimitrov vs Sweeny: Dimitrov Win @ $1.28
