Sydney United vs Central Coast Mariners Australia Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Mariners to suffer another Cupset
Sydney United are favored to advance past Central Coast Mariners in the Australia Cup Round of 32, given their impressive 7-1 record at this stage and strong form in NPL NSW. The Mariners have struggled, losing four times to NPL clubs and seven of ten R32 games, with recruitment issues this season. United’s home pitch at Edensor Park and a passionate crowd provide an edge, while a low-scoring match (Under 2.5 goals) looks likely based on recent trends. Backing United for the win is the key recommendation.

United famously put together an incredible run during the 2022 Australia Cup, becoming the first NPL side to advance into the final. United defeated two A-League clubs in Western United and Brisbane Roar before going down to Macarthur.
A repeat run to the final might be a step too far, but United should be confident of overcoming the Mariners, who are one of the weakest A-League clubs and have suffered four defeats to NPL clubs in this competition.
United are in fairly strong form - they're currently third in NPL NSW and they've won seven of their eight Round of 32 games in the Australia Cup. They clearly get up for this competition and nothing about the Mariners should intimidate them in front of what should be another patriotic crowd at Edensor Park.
I'm backing United to secure their third win over an A-League club in this competition, while there's also a bit of value in Under 2.5 goals, which has been landing repeatedly in the NPL NSW.

Sydney United Form Analysis
United are sitting in third spot on the NPL NSW ladder, winning 16 of their 24 games.
It's already been a successful month for United after they won a record ninth Waratah Cup trophy, beating APIA Leichhardt 3-1 in the final.
Miro Vlastelica's side bring a two-game winning run into this contest. Both were impressive 1-0 victories over fourth-placed Rochdale and table toppers Marconi.
United beat Northern Tigers to reach the R16 of the Australia Cup in 2025 before going down 2-0 to Sydney FC.
Sydney United Team News
Michael Krslovic is United's top scorer in the NPL with seven goals to his name - he will be the main threat up front.
Adam Pavlesic has A-League experience with Sydney FC and the Mariners and will likely line up in goals.

Central Coast Mariners Form Analysis
It was a disappointing A-League season for the Mariners as they finished in ninth spot on the ladder, six points off the finals.
Central Coast only managed eight wins from their 26 games and have slipped back into the lower echelon of A-League clubs after their dynasty at the top a few years ago.
The Mariners' best result in the Australia Cup was a runner-up finish to Melbourne Victory in 2021.
It's either hit or miss for Central Coast in this competition - they've reached the semi-finals on two other occasions, but have also been eliminated seven times in the R32. They didn't even make the R32 in 2025, losing in the playoff round.
Central Coast Mariners Team News
The Mariners are struggling to recruit ahead of the upcoming season and have lost top scorer from last term Sabit Ngor to Brisbane Roar.
Ali Auglah scored five goals in the A-League last season and the Mariners will need more from him to remain competitive going forward.
