Newcastle have been flying high on top of the ladder for the bulk of the season now, but they've lost a bit of form over the last month, losing two of their last three outings. Adelaide meanwhile are unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 games and have quietly moved up to third spot.

I always like to follow the value in a competition like the A-League, where lots of games are 50-50 and anything can really happen. With the Jets' dip in form, I'm going to take Adelaide here - they are proving tough to beat lately and only a Clayton Taylor hat-trick denied them against Newcastle in the most-recent outing. It might be worth noting that Taylor has been out injured with a hamstring problem.

It's not surprising that the total goals line is set at 3.5 with the Jets' attacking firepower this season, but both teams have actually been trending under for the majority of recent games. Will take the Under at slight plus-money, while Luka Jovanovic remains one of the form strikers in the competition and can find the back of the net for Adelaide.

Newcastle remain on top of the table, registering a 14-1-8 record heading into Round 24.

It's been a brilliant season for the Jets, but they will want to regain their top form ahead of the finals after dropping two of their last three games.

Mark Milligan's side twice came from behind to level against Macarthur through a brace from Xavier Bertoncello, but couldn't do it a third time as they succumbed 3-2 at Campbelltown.

Fortunately for the Jets, the other two sides closest in the title race - Auckland and Victory - failed to pick up maximum points, meaning they still enjoy a three-point buffer.

Adelaide United Form Analysis

Adelaide come into this contest with a 10-6-7 record on the season and have moved up to third spot on the ladder, four points adrift of Auckland in second spot.

With Auckland facing fourth-placed Melbourne Victory this weekend, it means there's potential for each team to make major moves and shape the title race.

The Reds are low-key one of the form teams in the competition, going unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 games - although they have drawn four of their last five.

One of those draws came last week, with Adelaide holding Auckland to a 1-1 share of the spoils at Coopers. Ethan Alagich gave Adelaide the lead before the side conceded early in the second half.
