FIFA World Cup 2026 Golden Glove Tips & Predictions

One of the most appealing factors about the World Cup is the amount of Futures betting opportunities before the tournament gets underway - and that includes the Golden Glove for the tournament's best performing goalkeeper.

Key Points for Bettors

However, unlike the Golden Boot - which is awarded to the player who scores the most goals and is based solely on data/statistics - the Golden Glove isn't given to the goalkeeper who makes the most saves or keeps the most clean sheets. Instead, the decision is made by FIFA’s Technical Study Group, who choose from a combination of criteria, including:

  • Clean sheets
  • Number and quality of saves
  • Saves in crucial moments
  • Penalty save performances and shootout heroics
  • Consistency throughout the tournament
  • Overall contribution to team success
  • Command of the penalty area, distribution and leadership

Historically, Golden Glove winners usually:

  • Reach at least the semi-finals
  • Keep multiple clean sheets
  • Produce memorable saves in big matches & star in penalty shootouts
  • Play a major role in their country's deep tournament run

So, with all this in mind, take a look at our three best bets for who will win the Golden Glove at the 2026 World Cup below.

Unai Simon - Spain 🇪🇸 ($6.50)

Simon is expected to retain his starting place in goals ahead of both David Raya and Joan Garcia, who both played starring roles for their clubs this season. Simon played a leading role in Spain's triumph at Euro 2024 and hasn't done anything wrong for Athletic Bilbao in the most-recent La Liga campaign, so it would be a big shock if he was to lose his place. Simon kept five clean sheets in his last six qualifying appearances for this World Cup.

Spain are expected to at the very least reach the semi-finals and are many experts' favourites to go all the way, meaning maximum possible game time and the opportunity in the knockout phase to make some crucial saves or star in a penalty shootout.

Spain also landed in a favourable group featuring Saudi Arabia and Curucao, while Uruguay have managed just one goal in their last four games. Great chance to begin the tournament with three consecutive clean sheets, which would provide an excellent springboard.

Mike Maignan - France 🇫🇷 ($7.00)

Like Spain, France are pre-tournament favourites to reach the business end of the tournament and it would certainly come as no surprise if they featured in the final with the ridiculous amount of attacking quality at their disposal.

But, we're focusing at the other end of the pitch here and Maignan is coming off a great season for AC Milan in the Serie A and will walk into the starting goalkeeper position for France. After finishing runners up at the 2022 World Cup, France will be determined to go one step further in this edition and Maignan will get an opportunity to play a starring role deep into the knockout phase and further enhance his reputation as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.

Hernan Galindez - Ecuador 🇪🇨 ($101)

My big dark horse selection, but these are just fantastic odds with Dabble. Galindez is priced at $26 at some other top Australian bookmakers, which suggests the Ecuadorian goalkeeper is a decent outside chance, so the value here is insane.

Obviously Ecuador aren't expected to win the World Cup, but don't sleep on the South American nation - especially in defence, where they boast the likes of Willian Pacho (PSG) and Piero Hincapie (Arsenal), who recently squared off against each other in the UEFA Champions League final. Pacho is the first player from Ecuador to win the Champions League.

Ecuador finished second in South American qualifying behind only Argentina, conceding just five goals in 16 matches. With Chelsea defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo providing an extra layer of support, La Tri are remarkably difficult to break down - and Galindez in goals reaps the rewards.

I have Ecuador as genuine dark horses to make at least the R16, giving Galindez a good opportunity to rack up some clean sheets and perhaps some big saves or penalty stops in the knockout phase. There's a lot worse $101 bets to put your loose change on, that's for sure.
